What were people expecting? With Gibbs, Armfield, Thomas, Judd, Graham, Walker, Warnock etc missing large chunks of games, we were competitive with or beat the bottom 8 teams and lost to the top sides.
All this whilst getting game time into our younger players.

Some of our supporters want us to rebuild and do things properly for a change but can't handle the bad results that will come with it. Understandable considering what we've gone through over the last 14 years. Interesting times ahead because we're in for many more bad losses whilst the rebuild happens. Just hope the club can hold its nerve for a change and not succumb to our old ways...

Change of tactics? Its hard to dictate play when you are completely outclassed. Its no coincidence we played better footy against the lesser sides and we're now struggling against quality sides.
The fact we've played 3 of last years preliminary finalists in the past 4 weeks might have something to do with it as well.
Compounded by the fact our midfield has been decimated by injury.
You're right about one thing, the players aren't stupid. They know we are currently undermanned and outclassed. Make the most of a bad situation I say.
Get games into the kids and see who has the character to compete when the chips are down. Theres always something positive to be gained from a bad situation.

..not dictate play, we can't control a game I agree.. ....we are getting belted no matter how we play, so why not try and play modern competitive footy..?.. ..top four, or top ten, either way all those teams are far better than us this year.. ..tactics should stay the same when the odds of getting belted are the same.. ....under barker we have played two styles of play, only one is even remotely competitive.. ....if you don't hunk their is a directive from the head office, then I envy your faith.. ..maybe I'm just cynical in regards to our club..

..in the current position we are in, bad results will come.. ..that is a given.. ..but instead of trying to be competitive, we are looking to the draft already.. ..instead of trying to undo bad habits, we are reinforcing them..

And I'm starting to like what I see in Holman as well...Should've played last night if Gibson got away with it

Add to the fact that FOR WHATEVER REASON, Hendo, Yarran and Menzel are currently playing well below par and Bell had a quiet game

barker out. someone far removed from our last decade of football to be installed.

mcKay needs to get the hell out & replaced immediately too. then have a good long look at our scouting department or whoever has been behind the drafting philosophy of high risk/ high reward drafting, rather then just selecting the best player available.

if the board won't fall on their swords, every other position under them needs a clean out with fresh perspectives and view points introduced, much the same way the eagles, dogs and even the saints have done.

Not sure the club would appoint Barker even if he was the best candidate.

Just think the board will be looking for a good news story in the back end of the year. They'd want something for the fans to swallow and go into the off season with some optimism.

A Barker appointment lacks the sizzle.

What about the players? They cannot be absolved of responsibility. To me, this is where the improvement will come from (by turning over the list) as well as a new coach.

FFS - if you don't want to be there, call it out and we'll send you somewhere else!!!!!

I think Barker's been doing pretty well while being clearly compromised by club objectives preventing him from chasing the best possible results this season.

That said, there's a huge part of me that wants someone with absolutely no attachment to the 1.5 decade long mess the club has inflicted on itself. If that's Dew, Lloyd or Bolton, so be it. How would anyone who's spent time at Carlton know how a modern and successful club operates.

Watching the Bulldogs play yesterday makes me want a coach with no previous connection to our club, allowing for a fresh start for everyone. (Although Beveridge is benefitting from the McCartney's three years of development programs.)

I'm very much the same. To me this is sensible. Which makes Barker a shoe in for the job...
