Until each team plays each other the same number of times, the AFL, as a fair dinkum competition, cannot be taken seriously.

He (Mr Swann) said the honour and pride associated with the club's traditional navy blue jumper was priceless.

Hard to take much out of that, outside of the enjoyment flogging Richmond always brings.

In reality, they were terrible. Possibly the worst we've played all season. Defensive pressure was non existant, their big 3 midfielders in Cotchin, Martin and Foley did not get a clearance between them for the first 3 quarters, no real attempt to man up (lost count of players by themselves). Without turning this into TalkingRichmond, their gameplan today reminded me of Matthew Knights with Essendon*. At least by implementing that style of play at Richmond, they have decent midfielders who can break the lines, like Martin, and they've got a decent forward line to kick to. Their defence minus McGuane was terrible. You could easily pinpoint 5-6 players who are clearly not AFL standard.

The main highlight for me today was Hendo's performance on Riewoldt. Don't let the junk time goals fool you. Hendo gave him a bath, ran off him with ease, and I look forward to him continuing with Hall next week.

Surely you have to start bandying Mitch Robinson's name for All-Australian selection too. Won't ever happen, as he's not fashionable enough, but geez, take out his game as the sub, and he's averaging close to 30 touches a game, and kicking a lot more goals than others considered for it. In a just world, he gets the 3 votes from todays game. Won't happen, CJ wasn't far off it either.

Arguably Bryce Gibbs' best game for the club today. Never seen such a willingness to take on the game from him as he showed today. Played on at every opportunity, set up many goals. That boot was damaging today.

I think Eddies' performance today is as good as any an example to show that you can't measure his performance by scoreboard output. I think 4 of his goals were scored from <5m? Could have had another too, that one in the opening quarter was a dodgy decision that went against him.

Defence looked better with Laidler in it. I don't think we have another defender who is prepared to push up as high as he does. Does it well.

At this stage, think ThePsych has nailed the selections for next week.

When Grigg was younger at Carlton I think we all saw "talent" there and could of possibly turned into a solid player. But he sooked that Ratten didn't give him enough games and wanted to play in a shit team to get games. Collins has also been terrible in the games he played for us this year, but hopefully next season he can turn it around

I know I'm a Carlton nut but I do not degrade players in the Dark Navy Blue, nor ex premiership players who have gone to another club. Yes, I'm still sore about Hamill who was a hero of mine in '99.

And last year Jamison I thought was also badly out of form and not in good physical condition, and I said, like many others that he didn't deserve to be selected ahead of a few in the Ants, and finally I have also said that McLean was looking too slow at AFL level. Now I apologised for making an analogy of Brock which I wasn't asked to apologise for, some found it funny. I was remorseful, because he's still is a Carlton player and may come good and has something to offer whilst he's on our list.

That's all normal stuff. I don't say that they are idiots, fools, girls, nor do I discuss their mother or call them shielas...or whatever stories are going on between your ears reagrding me.

This is what we do on TC: we analyse, critique and form an opinion....and as far as the opposition are concerned...they are just that...the opposition. Grigg is the opposition.

Grigg is a turncoat. Basically he's cost us pick 17 or 19 whatever it was. We got nothing like pick 19 in return. He didn't give us a chance to trade. He just decided to leave the club. What sort of a servant of the club was he? And do you think Grigg played well yesterday, and I was wrong with my assessment? Tell me why I'm wrong. Why don't you say something about his opponent's failure to curb him if that's the case. Give us some substance instead of accusations.

I think I was right and I loved the fact we did not allow Grigg to have a good day against us.
You know and everyone knows he would have loved to stick it right up all of us in the Dark Navy Blue.
Grigg has mates at Carlton but he has no love for Carlton...just memories. Point is he's not a Carltonian anymore, and he did not make an impact for the Dark Navy Blue in the short time he was at Princes Park.

Have a read of other posters' feelings of Grigg, listen to the 1000's of Carlton fans who are disappointed in him and the way he departed...I'm not alone. There's nothing digusting in it...that's footy.

The Tigers are Carlton's old foe, the enemy if you like. I love thrashing the Tigers and everyone in Black and Yellow.

A few observations from yesterday's game:

Great comeback by the Blues after last week's insipid display but seriously, apart from GC (maybe!!) who else would you rather play to get back into form than the limp Tigers??

Robbo - surely this guy has won over any doubters, he is now a quality midfielder whose hard at it attack on the ball is just what we needed and missed last week and whose skills tend to get overlooked because he is so uncompromising. And he will continue to improve!!

Laidler - apart from Jammo, this guy may be the most important component of our defensive setup. He is an absolute gem and I still can't believe our luck getting him from Geelong for peanuts. (Would have come in handy for them last night!!).

Juddie - The Great Man. Enough said.

206 - I still can't work this guy out. Plays some absolute shockers where he has no impact on the game apart from the centre bounces and yet my gut tells me when (if) he eventually does "click" he could turn into the dominant ruckman not only in our team but maybe in the AFL. Was very good against the Tigers so hopefully he can build on that in the weeks to come.

Waite - If he can clunk them like he did against the Tiges we will have an absolute weapon. He is a nightmare matchup for any defence because of his height and athleticism. Just hope he stays healthy and doesn't incur the wrath of the umpires for the rest of the year.

Hendo - He will be very good wherever they play him in the future but for now defence may be his thing. Really feel for him because he was having a ripper pre season until he got injured (I remember Ratts singling him out) and really feel the sky is the limit once he gets a full preseason under his belt.

Bower - I know he didn't play yesterday but this guy in my opinion has been the most disappointing player on our list. I had such high expectations at the start of the year and now he is battling to get a game with the Bullants. (Yes I know that's an exaggeration). Come on Paul, we all know how good you can be. Time to start producing son.

I have been following the game for 40 years, and the current interpretation of holding the ball has got me stuffed, and I'm not just talking about the Robbo or Tuohey incidents, I am seeing it week in week out in every game I watch, the rule has become so inconsistent that it is now a raffle and you never know what is going to be paid and what isn't.

Need to keep persisting with him. Fills a vital role no one else can. Played a very good defensive role yesterday on King. When he finds the right balance between defence and attack he wil be a star. Just needs time and experience. Big piece in the premiership puzzle!

I seriously don't get the arguing over Grigg, who cares if he is gone he was a fringe player at best when he was at Carlton and would not get a game in our best 22, if he truly believed that he wasn't getting a fair go then that attitude is not required at the club as it shows he wasn't prepared to do the hard work to work on his game and get better.

I am sure the coaching panel would have told him what was required, our slogan this year is "NO PASSENGERS" and it appears that the list have worked hard to make that slogan a reality and there is no room for someone who does not want to put the work in, so it is better for all concerned that he left as we don't need an attitude like that at the club as it can be poisonous to others on the list.
