Location: A Fevola punt from TEAC oval.
In: Jacobs, Thornton, Hadley
Out: Hammer, Davies, Yarran

IMO Jacobs needs to come in for Hammer. Jacobs is in form, is a far superior tap, takes a great grab and can kick a goal when he gets within range. Hammer needs more time but was probably worthwhile trying on the big ground in Perth.

Thornton must come in for Davies. Davies has gone well, but with the two senior defenders down on form, the back 6 desperately need a mature head and I believe having T-Bird as 3rd man up, lending support would raise Bower and Jamo's confidence no end. He knows when to zone off, takes the relieving mark and could free Gibbs to move higher up the ground or to play a role on Goodes.

Yarran was poor last night, with 2 of the 3 amigos playing poorly, bring in Hadley to cope with the stoppage game ... horses for courses. We have enough quality outside runners in the team.

Then if Carrazzo doesn't come up, bring in Walks to play his role.

Yes...and don't forget our greatest weapon...
Bondi Blue rallying the crowd.

 You guessed it, I'll be there with a Navy Blue leg in the air.
It's finals time. Yippee.

I am a loud person, and a bit :screwy: when I'm watching the Blues.
I have a voice that will be heard across the ground.

I can't wait to !@#$%& the Swans.That's because I'm a bird lover.

And if there's any Carlton fans who start hanging shit on their own...watch out...missile will head their way.

I'll be the one with a Dark Navy Blue jumper on, with the following printed on the back:

Bondi Beach
is
Navy Blue

I knew it!
You'll be there...loud and proud.
Go Bondi,
Go Blues!!!

THE GREAT THING ABOUT THIS WEEKEND'S CHALLENGE IS THAT WE DO HAVE SOME OPTIONS IN THE ABSENSE OF SOME OF OUR STARS.

Missing from our best line up (IMO) Kruezer Houlihan Carrazzo Lucas. They can all be covered for this finals game against the Swans

Players like Thornton Walker Jacobs Setanta Anderson Hadley McLean are no slouches to bring in if in form.
There will not be that many changes either.

Would like to see Walker come in and prove a point. Perhaps to replace Carrazzo. Out of form Betts will survive the chop.

Thornton should replace Davies for this final. It's do or die. No room for learning this weekend.
Jamo and Bower are really out of form and will need the support of another experienced player.

Would like to see a hard nut like Hadley or McLean in the middle against the Swans. We'll need at least one of them.
I expect Grigg to survive the chop too, despite his appalling foot skills because his hardness at the ball is needed against the Swans.

I doubt Fisher will play his 100th game for Carlton this weekend.

This is going to be a hell of a tough gig, only positive is that the game is at ANZ and not the SCG graveyard. Would much rather have played Freo @ Subi.

They've won 99 of the last 100 we've played (or it seems that way) and Roos just has it all over Ratts (read flower wit Rhys Shaw going fwd and kicking 3 or 4 against us at Etihad!!).

It's no use fronting up to these guys doing the "same" old losing thing, let's try something different FFS. We have to break the huge psychological hold this club has over the CFC.

Last time we played no T-Bird (would have been handy on Shaw) and no Jacobs. Both in very good nick in VFL and deserve to come back. Jacobs also in the winning team v Swans last year and I suspect T-Bird was as well. Both can snag a goal, too (Sammy 3 v Pies y'day). Hammer useless v Swans @ Etihad and difficult to put up a stay case for him. Swans are a physical team, want foot soldiers like Sammy out there fighting for the CFC cause.

Gibbs to stay on Goodes the whole game - follow him when he plays forward too! Gibbs in good nick and at least he has a win v Goodes in the past. Who else could do this gig? Grigga is not a stopper, don't even think about it.

Tex or Hadley back into the midfield only if Carrots doesn't come up.

Ins: Jacobs, Thornton
Out - Davies, Hampson

Lucas was off with a hammy in Etihad game within 10 minutes, just hope we're the club that has luck with injuries in this game. Ellard a welcome addition since the last time we played, more blue collar type players is the trick against this well drilled outfit.

Here's hoping.

It has been a disappointing year for the Blues even though the team made the finals....I don't think we have progressed from last year, just broken even at best.

I look at where we were last year and I feel that although our expectations were high, we have broken even and I will take that considering the fact that most people didn't think we would even make the 8 after trading Fevola and losing Stevens, we have also had our fair share of injuries, so all in all even if we lose to the Swans I figure the season to be a C (just a pass) and look forward to season 2011 with a lot of upside.

Whoever said we were outplayed by a very inexperienced Freo needs to open their eyes they were 12 games more experienced than us on average..

If Carrots doesn't get up for the game then Ellard would be my bet to take on Jack.

Jack has become a seriously good player the second half of the season.

Pretty much spot on I'd say

Steady on, guys.

You DO realise that if Norf beat Melbourne by around 450 points today, we finish 9th and out of the finals?

Not likely. But if it was Norf vs a Sheedy-coached team, I reckon he'd do it to us out of sheer spite.

That is a real worry John.
A timely reminder to keep a lid on it.

I would've prefered to have another crack at the Purple Haze @ Subi than play Sydney in Sydney (even if it's at ANZ)...

We have as much (possibly more) sheer talent than the Swans, but Roos just has them so well drilled and they seem to love playing against us. They are the sort of hard, tough, disciplined and physical side that usually make a mess of us. A win against the Swans in Sydney would be just massive for the development of our side and of our coach. In fact, winning a final against a respected opponent like the Swans could be a turning point for our entire club...

Unfortunately, I just can't see it happening. We've got some issues at both ends of the ground at the moment, particularly in defence, and I just can't see our boys withstanding the Swans' pressure for long enough to win the game. Nor can I see Ratten out-coaching Roos. And then there's also the Goodes factor.

If Carrots doesn't come up, I suppose it's a choice between Tex, Hadley, Brock, Johnson, Browne or Anderson. Not a lot to get excited about there, IMO. I'd go with Tex. Otherwise, I don't think we'll make many changes this week....

As I said in the Bullants thread, I doubt the MC will drop Hammer for Jacobs, despite Jacobs' strong VFL form. T-Bird might be a chance to come in for Bower, or perhaps Davies (if the MC want to go slightly taller), but T-Bird appears to be so out of favour that I think it's unlikely the MC will go down that path.

I'm not confident, but this would be a famous victory if the boys can do it

Go Blues!!! :fight:

Everyone should be allowed to dream....but I think some of the anticipation for this week is bordering on the delusional !

since rd 11 we are 4-7 (with our 4 wins coming against 13, 14 15 and 16th placed sides !)

swans have had our measure for many years !

roosy would be sitting back with a big smirk thinking about confronting the amateurs that head up the Carlton match committee !

Without wanting to be a party pooper...I can't help it....

The one and only chance we had of getting past the first final ... was if we played Fremantle again. We will get blown out of the water by Sydney.

given our form and Sydney's and the interstate factor, this will be a bloody hard game to win but I am glad we get to play finals again. I did not expect finals this year with Fev gone and Waite coming back from a knee reco.

I'd bring in Jacobs for this game because its going to be hard and tough and he might help win the in close contests.

If Carrots doesn't come up I hope they play Maclean or Hadley

Go Blues.
