I only care because of Clarkson's cowardly king-hit on Ian Aitken, which pretty much ruined his career. And the bastard's behaviour as a senior coach shows that he hasn't changed his spots since then either.
So in a roundabout way, it's because I care for Carlton that I want Hawthorn to lose on Saturday. (As Frankie pointed out in another thread)
I balance that with Milburn's hit on Silvagni and clapping as we went off.
I live in Geelong so I hope the Hawks smash them.
Look, that was an ugly incident, and on the day I was furious.
However, on reflection I think history shows that that was an unfortunate incident for all concerned, and that it was a poor decision by a guy who has generally shown himself to be a fairly capable and reasonable footballer. I believe his reaction on that day simply showed his immiturity in handling the after effects of a very poor on-field decision.
re Clarkson, well history has shown what a thug he was, and the things he has players in his team doing certainly very calculated, and not in the spirit of the game.
keogh is right, we as Club allowed Elliot to carry on like an arrogant prick, and we paid the price. Doesn't necessarily mean the price was fair or equaninimous, but what can you expect in a parochial game with vested emotional interests generally calling the shots (i.e Commisioners and AFL Club Presidents)?
These 2 teams show where Carlton as a team need to get to be in the running. On our day we can probably beat any of 11 teams, but there are 4 we cannot currently touch ... and one of those is St Kilda.
SO on Saturday, take a look at what you have to do to go all the way.
And I hope Geelong flog Hawthorn!
