Sorry Rhys if I crossed the line
I just hate it how easy it is to disrespect people from behind a keyboard sometimes..
Not having a go at you but GS will go down as the worst president in the history of the AFL/VFL. Unfortunately for us he was the president of the Carlton footy club at a time where we desperately needed a leader.
He might be a great businessman but in regards to football and the way a club is run he was pathetic.
Thankfully voting members aren’t stupid and they voted him out. I wonder how many presidents of football clubs have been turfed in that manner.
Obviously not many, but the man still deserves RESPECT.
GS barracks for the blues like we all do.
It takes balls to put your pride on the line in a popular election.
How about we just act gracefully as a membership and allow those who have braved the odds and failed a dignified exit.
I am sure Graham Smorgon still has much to offer his beloved Blues, just as we all do.
It is better to have tried and failed than never to have tried at all.
Respect is earnt ...and I'm sure GS has derservedly earnt respect in other facets of his life & business, but lets not try and kid ourselves and others by suggesting GS' term as CFC President was nothing short of woefull.
If he can support the club through the coteries or other fund raising means like JE, then great.
Slightly off topic but wondering how the Sydney marketing push by the DCT members of the board is progressing and what have the likes of Littman & Suss brought to the table

He was voted out which reflected on the quality of his tenure.
We as members had our democratic say for the betterment of the club.
But is there any need to lay the boots in when the victim is on the ground? No, because that is gutless.
That's a bit dramatic and over the top Jarusa.
I just felt there was a need to challenge Josh's initial post where he painted what I consider to be a distorted picture of how Harrison/Moulton/etc. were brought onto the board and the need for applause & admiration for GS.
Josh is a highly valued member of TC who has in the past generously brought a lot of accurate inside information to TC which he doesn't have to and we should all be greatfull for that, but on this occasion, IMO, the picture needed to be challenged.
I just think it's very important that all future CFC Presidential aspirants need to realise that the office of President is a special position to hold and that there is a very high standard of excellence & leadership that is expected by the membership and if you fall short of that then history will ACCURATELY record it as such, so proceed with the knowledge that you must "deliver" or you will historically suffer the consequences.
A high standard MUST be maintained ..and thankfully we currently have a brilliant President (who also took over the club in dire circumstances) who is swiftly turning things around and also very importantly placing the stature of CFC President on a very high pedestal where it quite rightly belongs.
