This is the first of a series of Blueseum / CFC crossover articles designed to bring out the history of the Club, but also the usefulness of the Blueseum.

You can either access this through CFC.com.au (the link above), or directly through the Blueseum website where you can utilise all the cross-link / hotlink features of the site to review the 5 listed players.

absolutely loved adrian hickmott and the service he provided the blues. such a great player. loved it when he would destroy slugs like lokan, even when struggling with his aging body.

Carlton 2012: Lets remind them why they once feared the Dark.

Good stuff, Molsey.

I liked your information on Bill Barrot.

Bill must rate as one of the best to have ever played for Richmond. Good stuff.

A writing group for the Blueseum has been formed from afew great contributors to the sites. Their task is to find interesting tidbits of information for utilisation by both carltonfc.com.au and the Blueseum.

Although I had a little bit to do with this one, the grand plan is that the writing group will come up with a number of great story ideas to really flesh out the great history of the Club. We've already seen the magnificent Blues at War article, and last year's 100 year anniversary of Carlton's first Premiership article, with lots of great ideas still being nutted out.

Part 2 of this article, including Madden, Bortolotto and Marchesani, plus Rhys - yes, budzy - is in production now and shouldn't be too far away.

Next one up is a nice article by an ex-Blue legend who has helped us out with his memories of an interesting game from 1971.

Cheers
M

Know the feeling, absolutely despised him before he came to Carlton. Once he wore a Carlton jumper though, he was one of my favourite players.

Great stuff

Rhys and Deisel were hated by us. Rhys came to Carlton, and he and Deisel belted one another in Sydney.
Then Deisel came, and was our hero like Rhys.
We arent fickle. :-D

Hickmott was terrific. How Geelong let him go was amazing. I would like him in the trenches with me.
I was a bit worried about his loss of blood each week. He couldnt play without a bandage around his head.

Not sure if this is related but I follow the EPL (as do a lot of people on this site no doubt) and I always notice that when a player who has changed teams goes back to an old club / ground while playing for the new club he is almost always warmly received by the fans of the old club. It especially happens when he has been part of a successful team at the old club.

In AFL however, players are generally lambasted when they retuurn to an old club. Look at Akermanis, Tarrant this year for example.

I have often wondered why the mentality is different here than in England? Is it to do with the sport? Is it to do with the circumstances under which they changed clubs i.e. they chose to change teams for money or were they pushed? Are we just so passionate about our clubs we can't see beyond that?

It might have something to do with the value of loyalty - leaving a club is tantamount to betrayal and it's hard to look past that, to me.

It might also say that we love the clubs more than the game itself. Which isn't surprising, considering the state the game is in...

Good article. I didn't know that about Harry Davie. Although Mott only played the one year with Sydney as well - delisted at the end of 02, rookied by Freo in 03 and then picked up by us.
