Wow in what world do we need to worry about Frampton. Geez. How can they make him good and we cant make someone like Moir good.
You're questioning our development or the stuff between Moir's ears.
Frampton has become a fixture since 2023 Premiership.
He takes a lot of intercept marks. Even with moore out, they have marking power in the backline.
Without Moore 203, it would be Frampton 201 who would take Harry 203. That could end up 0-0.
Imagine Harry going into the ruck, leaving kemp 193 and Gov 191 as our KPFs against Frampton and Puncher, allowing Howe to be 3rd man up.
I hope Frampton misses because it leaves 20yo Cochrane 195 to partner Puncher 196 and Howe 190.
We have to stop them intercepting and if we dont play a lead mark game, get the ball on the floor for Evans Byrne Ainsworth Hayward types.
I feel Young has to come in this game, to chop out in the ruck or be our KPF if Harry is the chop out.
I wouldnt mind Young in the backline too because Cameron 204 is in good form and he wonders down for his 1-2 goals from marks against us.
They also have McStay 196 as their 2nd ruck, Buller 199 and the other 3 midsized marking forwards Membrey, McCreery and Anderson.
Derksen 195, Dean 193, and Haynes 192 wil be stretched as they were in the wet by Chor Lewis and Gunston.
Selection will be interesting. I think Young will play back on Buller/ Cameron. Maybe swung in the ruck as a chop out against Cameron.
I have no problem playing Riley at CB, but he needs support. I don't care if we play Pitto too. I think playing him will be good for his development. He can stretch Pies defenders playing KPF in goal square at times.
Moir - Who knows. But if it is between his ears, then there is no one at the club that can turn him around. So skill development and between the ears development go hand in hand. And a club should look after both. Doesnt help that he comes in for a game or two and gets dropped again. We do this regularly. I am glad we are not doing it with Ison, even though he needs a rest. But its good for his confidence and giving him a sample size to work on over the summer.
And shows we believe in him.
With Moir, we havent done the same unfortunately.
Don't feel sorry for him Drewgirl.
Moir was gifted the last 2 games of 2024, as a 19yo, to get a feel and work on his shortfalls over summer.
Then last year Moir got his block of 7 games in a row, to end the season. Same opportunity as Ison.
His best game he took 4 marks for 4 goals vs Dees. Then his next 5 games were very average.
He didn't fire a shot in preseason, and, he was gifted a spot in Round zero.
All he proved is he wasnt fit enough and out of form. Gifting games is not a good idea
If he had looked OK and willing, he'd be in Ison's spot last week, this week and next week.
They play the same role.
I think when fans who want him to play they are suggesting we gift him a game regardless how bad he's been in the VFL.
What message would that send to players playing well in the VFL, and selection integrity.
Truth is, his contract as up for discussion this year, and I want to retain him on the list in hope, but sadly, he hasn't deserved a game this year.
He will be picked at the drop of a hat if he shows something. Trusgrove is trying to get him into the game playing HB, midfield, but he lacks application, desire and desperation to get into the team, let alone help his team mates in the VFL win games. He hasn't fired a shot in the VFL this year. Its July.
