I just feel like we need another tall target. There were times that Ison was playing as a defacto tall, and he's not quite big enough.
I like the Pitto-McKay ruck combo, so I don't think we need another ruck in the side, but that leaves us with Lewis Young or Hudson O'Keefe as our only options.
Game vs WCE was a great win and arguably our best for the year, at least on the scoreboard, but we didn't have it all our way against a bottom team.
I saw the same as you this week in the forward line. We missed a lot of opportunities playing only one KPF, and moreso when he's lost from the forwardline playing in the ruck, as we have seen in all our wins, and losses.
Kemp was beaten in the air by a player only 2cm taller. He and Gov got smothered by Bazzo and Young. I thought they both competed well to bring ball to ground and on the floor.
Kemp 193 and Gov 191 can only mark on the lead when playing KPF. They are both either 3rd tall or HF types imo. Adding Ison 192 and out "talls" were too short in the forward line. I get 3 marking types is better than no 2nd KPF, but....its a "shortfall" (pardon the pun)
Young is our best marking option imo. He can also ruck in the forwardline when Harry is giving Pitto a rest. But Harry, Young, Gov, Kemp and Ison, I feel is two too many talls.
Good thing we had 10 goal kickers and our smalls kicking 5.2, HHF's kicked 4.1 and mids adding 3.4 to Harry's 3.1 as the genuine KPF.
I don't think its a big deal this week, but it will be against teams who are challenging us for the Wildcard. Gov kicked his first goal for a month, Kempy missed out after only 1.5 last week.
The only thing is worth having a look at this week is our 209cm Riley vs Nankervis 199 and Balta 194 at least for the 20 odd CB's where Pitto isn't giving us an advantage. This is an obvious area we need to fix up next year, but nice to in lead up to Finals, let alone Finals.
IMO, Ison looks like he needed a rest for the last 3 games. His one wood isn't firing and it looks like that is due to fatigue. I prefer an extra small-medium forward like Williams in.
Lynch will play. The Defenders and the team are playing good team defence and can see no change in Defense. I have no doubt Derksen is far too slow for Lynch and would like Dean to take on Lynch (my reference would be Lewis Young, but this group of tall defenders have done well in last 3 games together, and seem to be building chemistry).
