Walsh Cripps Williams Cerra were great, just lacked a bit of polish.
Harry missing set shots will continue to haunt us
You are joking right?! I'll give you Walsh but what game were you watching for the others?!.
I was just posting some thoughts as fillers, knowing I will be enlightened by your astute self when you come on.
We lost by 5 points. A game we should have won or at least drawn. Sure Harry and Byrne should have kicked straighter and extended our lead, but they didn’t take their opportunity. Forward skills failed us, again.
The game was won by one man, Nick Daicos. Freak.
Midfield did their job. I thought Cerra and Williams beat Noble and Crisp.
Walsh v Daicos. Walsh tried his guts out. Daicos can’t be tagged, legally.
If it wasn’t Nick Daicos who beat us, it was the momentum killers in front of goal. Forwards couldn’t reward the hard work and opportunities our mids created. Wasn’t just Harry and Byrne.
That’s the ball game.
Cripps vs Pendlebury played out well for both, neither dominating. Approx equal ground time. Cripps’ brute strength and endeavour to get ball out with handball or pushing ball along in our advantage was enormous. Pendlebury played more outside feeding his team mates. I couldn’t see anyone on our list who could play the inside role Cripps played. He worked hard. He wasn’t disgraced.
You see what you want to see. I saw endeavour, effort and synergy. The midfield connected. Handballs were hitting targets better than previous weeks. Other than Walsh, did the sky fall down for you?
We are not Carlton circa 1995. We have holes. We have lost 5 games in a row. We are carrying players with average skills. We have a few under 20 players. One player had zero touches in 60% game time….we had our best team in, and we lost by 5 points. It was a very good effort by 22 players. Half of the players wouldn’t be in any of the Top 10 teams imo. Welcome to circa 2026. This is our reality.
Credit where credit is due.
Enlighten me.
