Free swing vs a team that a lot had penciled in for the GF.

Bring it on baby!

I don't see it a "free swing"... this is winnable... had enough of the 3 points from a prelim that we still celebrate

Lions next week is the free swing

I must be one of the very few that is going into this game not confident.
I just feel Harry, JSoS & Martin will be too much of a loss for us to cover forward of the centre.
One of JSoS or Harry in tonight would have made me content. Hope I'm wrong.

you know what, i agree with this.

this isnt a free swing, thats a defeatist attitude.

this is an enormous oppoprtunity for us to get to a prelim. from there, anything can happen.

the opportunity simply does not come around enough to go into the match with a "free swing" mentality. if we do that, we are done.

i want us to be as brutal as we where last week in the first half. i want us to take their strength and use it against them and watch them fold under the pressure. I want to win, not becuase its a free hit, but becuase we brutalised them, we beat them at their best, and our best was better.

is this good experience for next year? it sure it, but our wins this year is zero guarantee that we even win enough next year to make the 8 .. alot of sides are going to improve, us amongst them, but its no guarantee to make it. take the opportunity.

I can not see anyone "within the 4 walls" treating this like a free swing or even remotely thinking like it.

We will be breathing fire for sure

Can't tell how I feel tbh. Mostly annoyed about our terrible seats.

Wouldn't surprise. His body wouldn't be used to so many games in a row let alone the way we play

he did have a week off

I think this is a bit of a pessimistic view of the original comment TBH.
I read it as we have a shot against a predicted GF team to knock them out early.
In no way did I read it as a reflection of attitude of the playing group, whom I am sure want to win it all as we all do.
Some nervous nellies on here today.
C'mon we can do this, have some faith.
GO BLUES!!

I think Melbourne are rightly the favourite.
However, we have beaten all the top teams except Brisbane in the last few weeks.
And they are more banged up than we are.
And their outs are more significant than ours and our ins are better than theirs.
Our forward line is not at its best but we probably only need 10-12 goals to win. If Motlop, Owies can kick a couple goals each, that will make a huge dent in addition to the usual suspects.
Our defensive smalls should be more effective than theirs - we need to keep Fritsch and Pickett quiet but they are pretty limited beyond that. Apart from Petracca but they will need to rob Peter/pay Paul on that.
And the other 2 I’m concerned about are Salem creating run from the backline and Langdon on the wing. But we have the guns to keep them accountable.
Bottom line, if we play to our best and they are slightly off, we are a strong chance.
Yes they are favourites and rightly so. But WE CAN WIN THIS!!

Yeah no free swing. We’re ready. The time is now.

Cripps is 29 next season. Newman 31. Doc 30. Saad 30. Gov 29. Martin 29. Acres 28. Hewett 28. Charlie 27. Weiters 26. Harry 26.

You only get so many chances with each generation of players. If we keep waiting for next year this era will be over before it begins.

Must admit that I'm feeling the same way. I think our forward line will struggle to kick a winning score whilst I doubt that Fritsch and Pickett will be so wasteful 2 weeks in a row. McDonald had a shocker last week but will be better for the run.
Need a good start and for Cripps to have more influence.

Yep. Not confident but I'm hoping the boys give 100% effort for 4 quarters. You cant ask for anything more.
Looking forward to taking in the atmosphere. Perfect day for it!

By the way i think its our to lose.

If we have progressed this year - we need to beat them.

Making it to the prelim is a win. Hard to get past Brisbane at the Gabba.

But Melbourne are absolutely gettable.

Curnow does need to give us the spark though and others will follow.

But we are so scarred that I understand how we are so negative.

We owe Melbourne for last year. Its in our hands. If we come out firing and full of confidence, we can win.
