Ridiculous decision... Going backwards with Hosking going forward...
Love to hear what should /could have been done

Go Blues

ABSOLUETELY

The tackle stuck, they both rolled, and sarah got up straight away.
It was a momentum tackle.

They should have given her a warning or suspended sentence rather than try and quell the competitive instincts Prespakis brings to tha game week in week out, so lacking in this comp. Look at her record. She's the reigning BnF of the Comp AND its Indigenous round.

The AFL know how to stuff things up. They last foresight and lack common sense.

The girls are trying their best, and no one was hurt....go figure.

Looked to me like a "show parents that the game isn't too rough for their girls" decision.

Looked to me Jeff Gleeson didn't like to be outsmarted and shown up by Prespakis.

She says she just got hold of sarah and they both fell, after he accused her she pinned her arms and took her to the ground.

Jeff is wrong. He hasn't considered the momentum Sarah created. He hasn't considered a lot of things.

A stubborn, self serving QC. What else would you expect from him. He like the boys club in the Afl.
Its indigenous round. She is an indigenous player. This is the most important round for her. He doesnt give a stuff.

Just another Anti Carlton flog.

The tables will turn.

Just watched footage of the incident for the first time. Firstly, Kelli Underwood's commentary on the tackle was disgraceful.

Secondly, like the everyone else pointed out, Hosking came at her and it was pure momentum.

Thirdly, how did the crows player get off on appeal for nearly paralysing the GWS player a few weeks ago, yet Maddie cops a week for that?

I will take my hat off for the girls if they beat Kangas without Prespakis.

We just don't have the midfield class.
Plenty of grunt tho.

Jeff Gleeson is a cold hearted, lacking imagination or context.
Ridiculous, bias, inconsistent decision to rub out Maddy on the inaugral Indigenous Round ... and she's indigenous.
Callous. Cold hearted. Narcissist, imo.

It was a fair tackle on someone who was charging through.
They are best mates. Maddy wouldnt want to hurt Sarah.
I bet Sarah cant believe this man has forced this decision on Maddy.

Another makey uppey clown in the Commission.
Another embarrassment.

Remember that name Jeff Gleeson... he's obviously not a fan of Carlton.

You can leave your hat on.

From what I recall from the footage I saw, I think that Crows player would have been hard done by if she didn't win her appeal.

The only reason this fixture is being released week by week, is because of Covid, yes?

The AFLW wouldn't possibly manufacture this 14-side/9-round comp based on television appeal or week-by-week standings, would they?

It will be interesting, if not possibly boring, to compare what was originally proposed (https://womens.afl/aflw/document/2020/12/11/668f17fc-ba0b-4258-8bb9-c0c40c71132d/2021-AFLW-Fixture.pdf) with what actually eventuates.

Disappointing.

Can see THE AFL's man Jeff Gleeson's grinning at the result.
His name all over this result.

Thought the girls might dig deep enough to get the chocolates, for their Indegenous teammate unfairly rubbed out, but not to be without Maddy: Jeff Gleeson knew that.

Let’s not sugarcoat this.

They didn’t lose because Prespakis was rubbed out it through any AFL conspiracy.

They lost because they again went into the game half-arsed (is there a club-wide edict that states we must go into games below 100% intensity?), dished up 2 more goalless quarters and only seemed to pull their finger out when they were in danger of being totally embarrassed.

Totally drank their offseason bathwater and are reaping the rewards.

I reckon there's a lot of truth in the "getting ahead of themselves" angle.

That said, pre-season I rated North as one of the main contenders, not unbeatable by any stretch, they certainly had been shown to have their weaknesses in the previous couple of games. We obviously missed Prespakis, but I think we've also missed Loynes the last couple of games, just for that extra hardness around the contest. With both of them missing we lacked grunt. We also broke down badly going inside F50 and all too often it just came straight back out very easily.

Our slim chance of a finals berth will totally depend on the softness of our draw in the remaining four rounds. We're a game and about 40% behind the finals pack!! Geelong this week is as soft as it gets, we not only need to win, but win by about 10 goals and then hope we get fixtured against Gold Coast, West Coast and Melbourne in the remaining rounds.

North's kicking seemed a level above as well, more often than not spotted up a teammate perfectly.

I've said the same after your first 2 sentences.

You would have to agree Prespakis would have helped. Jeff Gleeson knows that too. Thats all.

Said they drank their own bath water after the first game.

I think they lack class and dash and haven't filled the spots Dalton and Walker vacated for Olympic duty.

End of season before it started.

Tayla doesn't get near it. She was an AA the previous 3 years. What has happened to her?

Skills are ... well ... not that good this year.

Gone backwards in that area.

Need Gee in the forwardline. Expected McEvoy to step up this year.

I thought McEvoy would be around Prespakis level in year 2, but doesn’t have the Prespakis side step or initial acceleration to get out of trouble.
