What side angle the only one shown had the goal post in the way

The goal umpire decision was he thought it had crossed the line he was a couple of meters away and the rule says unless there is conclusive evidence the goal umpires decision stands - Unless the arc has different camera angles we don't see at home there is no way it was conclusive.

and dont get me started on McGoverns mark not paid and subsequent Petracca goal

'Tribunal expert' Jon Ralph (who loves seeing non Richmond players suspended) said he wouldn't be suspended....insufficient contact.

Agreed.
Not intentional or reckless.

Worst decision by our three players to just sit back and watch!

After the game part of the analysis (King I think) was that all our second half goals came from centre clearances!

They knew it was over - look where the boundary ump is if he couldn't have called that he needs glasses

The goal post was in the way because the ball hadn't completely crossed the line.
Correct decision and a massive lapse by the Carlton players.

Some of you guys need to see a therapist.

We won that game.

We've done the exact thing to other teams - played poorly then come home with a wet sail. All decent teams can do it these days. They can get on a roll and snatch victory from the jaws of defeat. But we just held on. Good on us.

Do we have things to work on? Yes. Was the first quarter just about the best quarter of footy we've played all year? Yes! We kept a top-four side scoreless and put five on them going the other way. We defended with intent and system - the exact thing we've been working on.

If we'd never led by more than 2-3 goals you'd be happy.
Totally this! To me, it felt like we simply tried to hang on and not lose from about 10 minutes to go in the third, it felt way too cautious from that point on.
Needed to be a bit bolder and try to win the game, instead of not lose it.

I would be fine with us going defensive and hang on to a lead... if it actually worked.

Letting them get two in red time in the 3rd gave them the sniff, then had to watch all our bulls in the last quarter swarm the ball at the stoppage whilst they stood out on the spread.

just a query - did anyone think, going into the final quarter, that we wouldnt blow the lead? this club has scarred me so badly

We were 26 points up with 10 minutes left, I honestly thought we were safe then. And 19 points up with less than 4 minutes, no one loses from that position in this day and age. And yet... it really would have been the most humiliating defeat in living memory.

Remember we lost to Adelaide letting them kick 3 in the last 5 mins or so.

we have been unable to run out games since we went tall.

We have been unable to run out games since Walsh came into the side.

Pittonet has been central to our much improved clearance game. There is no reason this can't translate into scoring dominance, as it did in the first quarter, for longer periods.

Their finish to the 3rd quarter sowed the seeds of doubt. We should have nailed an extra goal but instead, they got a couple.
The decision to put McGovern on Petracca when he went forward was good on paper but McG was not fully up to game speed in his first game back. This gave Petracca, who had been well beaten by Kennedy, the initial opportunity which turned into confidence which spread through the team. They were running across the ground at the beginning of the last much better than they had all game to that point.

We are getting better each match. Players and coaches.
I've noticed that several times this year, TC posters have noted that "Kemp played the best defensive game of his career". I realise this is coming from different posters but interesting observations.
I assume Cerra will be out until after the bye.

As great as our captain is, he has never been known for his defensive bent

I saw the 1st quarter but nothing else yet. I will watch the replay shortly.

9 rounds in, and if before Rd 1 someone said, we would be 6-3, I would be happy with that scoreline.

I will say it out loud.........We can make it to another Prelim and maybe the GF with our best 22 on the park and the right mindset. We have the talent, and the game plan is slowly coming into focus. Yes, it is still an obvious work in progress but isn't every other team in the same boat. We are competing consistently, for longer.

Of course, we have lapses, but we are still sneaking wins against damn good teams. Alittle bit more composure and a few less injuries and we could easily be 9-0. That might sound silly, but the margins are slow close it is not out of the realms of possibility.

We have now beaten two teams above us, including having the Demons 38pts in arears, 7 mins into the 3rd. The Cats pipped us when we were undermanned.

This week will be another great litmus test. Based on the past 9 games, I nolonger go into a game thinking we can't win. It has been a fair length of time since I felt this way.

I would rather be 6-3, being a competitive unit week in week out without our best 22 on the park, than what we have been in years gone by.

Regards Cazzesman
