For anyone unsure of the value of winning the turnover game. 17 of the past 18 premiers have been top 3 in the AFL for leading the statistic. Being the leading clearance team isn't on the same page.
That's a reflection of the absolute value of turnover football.

Carlton was the best turnover team in the AFL the first 4 games. 4 wins. Adelaide beat us in that area and our ineffectiveness saw them kick 7 goals transitioning from our forward line.
I know some people may dismiss it as irrelevant data but it is a statistical reflection of the reality. It's not opinion. That's why the clubs use it comprehensively.

Adding to this, from memory during one of our games a host stated that 3 of the last 4 premiers were no #1 in this stat also, a good gauge on modern football and its importance to win it all.

I think we will bring in Binns & Cincotta.
And most likely swap Carroll with one of our small forwards who will then be the sub (most likely Fantasia).
I’d be surprised if Pittonet isn’t dropped given his limited game time last week and our obvious need for more leg speed but it is possible we are aiming to give him a few weeks to see how our system works with the 2 ruckmen.

I'd sub swap Fantasia & Carroll.

Cowan & Cincotta in for Mcgovern & Saad. Or possibly Cowan & Young if we want to go a bit taller & have a ruck chop out. Also still not even 100% sure if Cincotta is right, was weird that he was out managed & he hasn't played at any level for a few weeks now I think.

Binns in to debut, for Pitto.

2 rucks again? :banghead:

Charlie Harry and TDK all inside 50. Ball hits the deck and it's gone.

Jake Riccardi last week had second most, 5 HOs.
So, no second ruck.
Voss's biggest weakness when he was Lions coach was his stubbornness to change.
Not saying it's an issue with us but it's something to remeber.

Yep. Watch us get carved up on the rebound.
This persistence with 2 rucks makes me seriously question Voss’ tactical nous. It’s like he doesn’t understand the trends in the game and matches are being won in 2024.

Didn't our whole 9 game streak and finals run last year begin with having no ruck options and playing Lewis Young in there?

We need run. Especially against this mob.

Can't say I'm a fan of selection. We are even less mobile than last week and we looked slow then. Not sure how we go in as favourites. Anyway, I've been proven wrong many times with this club in recent times. Here's hoping I'm wrong again

I definitely recall seeing the 3 big boys in the forward 50 together on multiple occasions

Agree.

Pittonet gets 5 possessions at most, he can't mark whilst TDeKoening can, his hit-outs are ineffective and he's slow.

They'll select 3 forward pocket specialists as well. Fantasia should be sub at best.

Should have been:

In: Cowan, Young, (Agree with these two) and also Cincotta or Binns.

Out: Pittonet, Saad, McGovern.

Just so friggin weird. Too weird. All those successful teams of Hawthorn in the 1980s... Dear in the ruck only 1986-89. They didn't use two ruckman. Richmond 2017 - Nankervis only..Speed is vital. 2019 Richmond used two rucks but Nankervis was mobile enough to get 17 possessions and lay 3 tackles. You can't have one ruckman getting 3-4 possessions and limited impact around the ground.

I guess there must be a reasoning behind it...let's hope Pittonet has minimum requirements to get to - 7 possessions, 4 marks, 1 goal...that type of thing.

yes, lets hope you are wrong again too Cranium, but i really dont like the team selected. i get the cupboard is getting bare, but we really need some run

cant see us getting over the line on this one

Left field selection idea, If we're going 2 rucks, I would have bought in Cowan/Cincotta and played TDK in defence. Running 7 minutes in the ruck, Pittonet off.
Williams half forward.

Why play Pitto at all Young and H can pinch hit and we bring in a extra runner in Cinc

i think cinc must be injured if he has been missing from reserves, but was seen eating a sandwich

i dont mind young in the ruck, but who takes their forward when he goes?

but yes, for this game i think pitto should have been dropped

get binns in and see what he can wheely do on a fast track
