a team that has no pressure on the ball. all game long they were getting out the back, speeding thru the middle.

Are you saying they were quicker?
Speedvbeat ebdurance this week

We lost Saad, Motlop Martin would quicken us up but…..

not sure what game you were watching, but defensively we can't cover the holes and man space in the zone that voss likes when you replace cerra with a slow, uncoordinated ruck who cannot run.

it was some kind of arrogance thinking we could beat any afl team, essentially a man down.

Got what we deserved today. Hard to pinpoint one moment but Kemp and Williams butchering that mark near the boundary opened the door.
I was just saying these pricks beat us at bad times and bad things then happen.

The game late in 2022 at the Adl Oval where we needed one win and had Brisbane, Melbourne and Collingwood ahead of us.
Kennedy did his lisfranc, Newman got his knee sliced open and neither played again that year.

We dominated from about the 10 minute mark of the 3rd.
Bad kicking.
A couple of poor individual errors. Kemps dropped Mark, Cottrell 's rushed nothing behind that lead to a coast to coast goalt the other end. Than Owies.
We are absolutely desperate for some class smalls in the forward line.
We simple cannot crumb a goal.

I thought Kemp in first half was amazing.
But Kemp has to erase those brain fades.
He so clumsy

Pitto was on the bench so can’t blame him.

I know you want to keep beating this drum and I haven’t bought into it until now but that’s the point.

We were one man down for speed compared to the first four rounds.

Losing Saad early made it two.

Rucking is massively overrated when the ruckman can’t play as a midfielder after rucking.

Bad selection.

Six clearances for Pittonet.
Five score involvements.

Derailed it the year before too.

It's losses like these that can bite you on the arse later in the year.

So tell me about the opportunity cost?

Because if we’d gone with TDK and Harry we still get some of those but with Pitto in we don’t get any of the benefits of an extra runner.

The loss of an important runner though, which was badly needed late.

You tell me what the cost is.

+/- Clearances?
+/- Score involvements?
+/- Marks inside 50?

Jack Carroll came on before half time & had 4 touches. Was he the wrong sub?

If Harry was rucking we wouldn’t have kicked 3 goals to hit front.

Look a lot of IFs. Point is …look at the scoreboard 28 shots. There lies the issue. We were the better team.

The speed you’re looking for we don’t have. Saady is express. But you may get one extra runner but limit the opportunities he would get from an extra ruckman like Pitto gives you. Conundrum.

Add time on ground for both rucks and look at that output compared to one ruck in previous weeks.
Our team is super fit. We’ve got huge runners but speed is different. We make up for that limitation playing a different way: running harder than the opposition end to end, effectively playing with a couple extra runners. You can only have 18 on the ground. It’s 18 v 18.

The ruck is really important, the game starts there as do every CB. Our clearances from the rucks was huge, nearly Walsh huge.

I said before the game, before Pitto was official, the Crows have more speed than us on the outside. Lose Saady and we lose raw speed. In the end it was Berry and the speed he bought in the game and compare that to the return from our sub and the speed he brought to the game which made a bigger difference.

Blame game on Pitto me thinks. 28 shots to 20. Lost by 2 points. 8 more shots. Set shots. Misses. Happened last year too.

Crows played their GF today and kicked 16.4. 16.4. That’s rare too. But we kicked ourselves out of the game in the end.

Apparently every team plays their GF against us.

It was the Kangas last week.

The hubris is deafening.

I didn't mind the Pitt selection but it didn't take into account the likelihood of an injured running player using the sub.

Thought we were more competitive with him at centre bounces than TDK

we really weren't... we got dusted by a bottom four team that was winless on the year. we just don't win when pittonet plays. team balance is all wrong, pittonet does very little around the ground - can't run or mark and at times he's so slow he can't even make it to the stoppage. zero follow up work.

he should only play if tdk is injured.

in this day of footy two specialist rucks is suicide ... as we saw all last year when we lost 8 in a row and once more again tonight against a shithouse winless team, we gave them life.

it's so tiresome.

What error(s) did Kemp make that where worse than some other defenders whom shall remain nameless at this point.
From where I was sitting today, Kemp was one of the more composed, defensive and offensive players in our today’s backline.
I have no problem calling out players but it seems to me we have a new whipping boy that’s an easy target, whereas some other bigger names are protected.

We played Pitto to win the game, selecting only one ruckman it trying not to lose the game. We were in a winning position because of two rucks, we lost due to injuries and poor goal kicking.

Well that's one of the most specious bits of logic I've ever read.

I guess I'll take the four weeks of successfully trying not to lose over the one week of unsuccessfully trying to win, then.

Shall we talk finals 2023?

Playing Pitto gave us an advantage of 28 scoring shots to about averages, on average we are a better team with both.
