Love the way RoCo tries to convince everyone that he doesn't hate Carlton...

All I am reading on social media is the umpires gifted us the game, then I saw Freo got 6 goals from frees so it can't have been all our way.
When I watch the replay should I just watch the last 10 minutes or watch the whole game?
We got caught HTB at least 4 times, they were there.
Watch the last 10 minutes cos the rest of the game was a struggle.

WE did get penalised a few times for incorrect disposals when tackled and ball was knocked free or player tried to kick but missed the ball. Fair enough umps, but I counted around 8 times when freo players were tackled when they just let the ball go or missed it when trying to kick. It appears that there is one rule for when our players get tackled and another one for when we tackle opponents.

When we were about 10 points down with just over 2 minutes to go, I said to my son " now would be a good time for the umpires to even up the free kick count." A couple of minutes later he was calling me Nostradamus.

More joy from a win like that than any easy 10 goal romp. Snatching victory from the jaws of defeat against the odds due to sheer mental toughness and belief. Awe inspiring

I thought Weitering and TDK played well but am not sure about anyone else. Saad, Boyd, Williams and McGovern were ok I guess.
O Hollands struggles when in traffic and Carroll needs to improve his kicking. Durdin was ineffective and should be relegated back to sub next week. These three probably remain in the side for the time being due to injuries.
Some stupid defensive errors in our goalsquare from Newman, Acres and Kemp gifting the Dockers 3 goals.

Did Longmuir give a few oppo coaches a bit to work with today? They seemed to do an absolute number on us at stoppage

Pros:

Found a way to win again, when we probably shouldn't have.
Tackled well again.
Weiters, TDK, Saad, Cripps, Charlie, Cottrell, Boyd.
Harry had a good first half.
Liked Durdin's forward pressure, even if he didn't use the ball very well.
Owies was good when he came on.

Cons:

Got smashed in the clearances. We got first hands and then turned it over repeatedly. Looked like we really missed Walsh's ability to spread from the contests.
Freo free kick goals. Umpiring was fairly awful.
Inaccuracy.
Lost the coaching battle. Game was played almost entirely on Freo's terms.
Turnovers and poor decisions with ball in hand.
Kemp and McGovern were poor, especially early.
Not getting enough from Oli.
Carroll's ball use the last 2 weeks hasn't been great.

It looked like the umpiring department had caught whiff of media protests about our free kick count the last 2 weeks. Didn't want to pay any free kicks to us for most of the game, unless they were obvious, and even then they often didn't.

Irony is that despite the bleating we were stitched up early last week against North. They got a stack of soft free kick goals. And same again this week with Freo. But media and 'neutrals' will always feel/barrack for the underdog. Last week it was Matthew Richardson. This week it was Huddo.

Hated the way we kept zoning off and allowing them to chip, chip, chip the ball around.

spreading from stoppage is our biggest concern. then martin and his inability to stay healthy. we really missed him today ... he'd have spread freo too thin and prevented their loose tall peeling off all day long.

i really hope walsh can play a few years with walsh-like output. it'd suck to miss our flag window bcos of his back.

Yeah but five minutes later they were calling it a classic!

From the sounds of things it was Freo's tactics that made the game a bit low on entertainment value, but a very good contest.

Talk of freos goals from frees is silly. I reckon every single one was there.

There were a couple missed but we as a football community get so caught up with free kicks and whataboutism because our game is ridiculous
