What's the risk of Cripps missing due to his wife having a baby?

It is a possibility, he said he will leave later than the group and come straight back. If his wife goes into labour he will come home.

So he might get subbed off if it happens during the game?

Our midfield including TdK will be the key in this game. IMO, their midfield is one of the best.

Freo have been our bitches for a while now. They'll be keen to get one back on us. They're certainly playing better for than they were last year. Jackson, Brayshaw, Serong are their keys in the middle. Young and Fyfe going OK. Pearce kills us down back every time. They probably send him to Harry. Harry is in good enough form to still be a handful. Hopefully Curnow gets up. Didn't seem too bad so fingers crossed. Should be a good game, but I reckon we have the edge. Blues in a tight one

Why would Curnow not get up? He was walking around fine after the game.

Lucky break to play this away game at a neutral venue. Hopefully Carlton fans turn up in force.

Freo are a work-in-progress midtable team with a handful of real weapons. A perfect test for where we are at.

The midfield is their biggest strength with Serong, Brayshaw, Young, Fyfe and O'Meara fed by the in-form Jackson. They can match it with the best. If we can get the upper hand here and we'll romp it in.

Breakeven or worse and our backline will be under big pressure. Amiss is a bit like Charlie; key position but very dangerous at ground level. I still feel nervous about opposition small forwards, and Walters, Fredrick and Switkowski are a very dangerous combination. If our pressure drops upfield this group can kick a score.

We should be able to take advantage of Treacy and Taberner. They can clunk a few marks given enough supply, but otherwise they lumber around. I think our backline mix is good against this structure, not going too tall, with Weiters as the anchor and Gov/March/Newman intercepting and rebounding. We should be able to get plenty of run going once the ball hits the deck.

In the backline, Pearce Ryan and Draper are no slouches, so we can't just be bombing it to their area. Thankfully they will be sweating over Charlie and Harry.

Running halfbacks are their true weakness and that's been evident in their transition game for the first 3 weeks. Constant skill errors. If we bring the forward pressure like we did against North we will win. So grateful to have the likes of Cotters, Hollands x 2 and Acres who run bloody hard to make that happen.

I predict we get out to a game winning lead but won't play 4 consistent quarters, winning comfortably without really running away with it.

Blues by 19.

Freo doesn't scare me we have the talent to easily beat them.
What scares me is Adelaide Oval we have never won there.
Last time we registered a win in SA was at AAMI before they moved

What’s the story with Marchbank? Has he been ruled out? I assume he got knocked out but haven’t seen if that was confirmed?

Interestingly both teams are 3-0 going into the game but collectively the teams we have both beaten are 0-9.

I think 1-8 (Richmond beat StK…)?
But your point still stands.

Swans...

Still should be a cracker, glad it's not in the west. Pearce is excellent, but not going to handle Charlie and Harry....
Pressure and team defence (don't want Walters to have a day out) and we should win.

Go Blues

I don't know how I feel about this game. It's odd to play away but not play a home team.

Based on exposed form I think that may have happened as he ran out onto the ground before the game.

A great test this week.

Guessing Hewett goes to Serong who has had a great start to the year.

Hayden Young has moved into the middle this year and his pace + long left foot kick is a weapon.

Three elite/running defenders in Luke Ryan, Jordan Clark and Aish.

Weakness in terms of key defence; Alex Pearce is more than capable as a key tall but Joshua Draper is next up and has only played two games. Drag Pearce away from the action.
