Only 5 of our best 23 missing.

Not that many teams have their best team out there.

Brissy have 3 of their best out.

Round 1… have a crack and see what happens.

Bam Bam on the wing is just a joke, right? Figured Cotters or Ollie would've been named starting wing, rather than both on the bench.

Don't mind the team at all, and I'm pumped to see Zac back.

Bring on the paddle pops!

I'm actually glad we stuck with Young.

Brisbane have 3 of their best out? Who? Ashcroft? Who else?

The difference is we’re not just missing 5 of our best 23, we’re missing 2 of our best 3, including the one player we absolutely can’t afford to miss in Weitering. He is our single most important player and the player we have least cover for. Plus we’re missing our best replacement for Weiters in Marchbank.

And we are missing our best all round player in Walsh, probably top 5 in the league when fit

And lastly we’re missing our first 2 picked small medium forwards in Martin and Motlop.

If Brisbane were missing Harris Andrews, Jack Payne, Lachie Neale, Cam Raynor and linc McCarthy, we’d be about even, but they’re not

3 of their best LOL

In that case we’re missing 10 of our best including Elijah Hollands, Corey Durdin, and that Irish bloke who did his knee

Best 22? They would both be in it.

Is it the same As us .. no

Could also point to Sydney tonight
Parker
Mills
Adams

All out.

They are gonna win.

Injuries are real, but great teams win anyways.

Have a crack!! I don’t think we will win either!!

40,000 people at the SCG for just the 14th time!

It’s a great story!

Yeah Nah.

More attended the Sydney vs Melbourne game in last years H & A game.

AFL beating their own drum. O round hasn't made any difference to winning new hearts and minds in non traditional footy states

There's still more rugby going on in Sydney than AFL. in fact, more NRL games to watch over 4 days than AFL, day and night.

0 round is a dud imo. Unsettling in many ways, heres just a few:

*Earlier start for players means less prep time, pressing Finals players to catching up to fitness of non Finals players. Some players underdone
*Doesn't work for Footy tipping comps which for 3 fails before being knocked out. Works out that some rounds teams play twice.
*Ladder is disrupted till all teams miss the bye
*No Football to watch live for traditional footy states (Vic, SA, WA)
*Free hit to NRL in traditional AFL heartland: Storm v Panthers whilst Carlton play Brizzy
*Assumption of playing AFL whilst the NRL is in US is misleading: NRL played last night Canberra vs Newcastle, Cronulla v Warriors plus 4 other games over weekend.
*Carlton lose the only marquee game they get in the season: Opening game of season
*Means Pies have both Marquee games on Anzac day and Queen's Bday, Bombers have Anzac day, giving them advantage over other clubs to be destination clubs

Come on AFL, its about time you designed a fair and equitable fixture, and stop being so Collingwood and Effendope centric amd giving them a leg up every year.

Post subject:  Re: Opening Round: Brisbane v Carlton (Pre Match Discussion)

I'm expecting 205cm Harry to play FF to make 200cm Andrews more accountable and work hard for his possessions and to conserve some energy to use when running around the ground playing in the ruck

Charlie to roam more than he did in last years prelim and play CHF.

Stretch their defence. Hope Fantasia uses his pace to swoop loose balls. Owes plays hard and dirty.

I think Cottrell will use his wheels running up and down ground, as will Acres and Hollands will too but a lot of inside outside stuff.

Someone must play as a defensive HF on Coleman. That's where their drive came from last game and during praccy games. Who? I reckon it will Owies or Fog.

Glad McKenna isn't playing.

Just a guess.

I'm not feeling as unconfident as most. I get the odds and agree with them at $4, but anything can happen. We let them run loose during the 2nd and 3rd quarters last game. Not this time.

I have a good feeling the new Carlton is Stronger Together.

Fk its good to have footy back, albeit in Brizzy in the first round.

I am supposed to be going tonight and I'm not a fan either. I was thinking about committing myself to something next Thursday and luckily realised at the death that the footy was on. Donk!
