On preseason form ... we have no hope.
Regarding our forward 50 entries ... we have suffered from this long bombing ever since the madhouse instilled it in his game plan.
We looked really slow against Melbourne ... also they beat us to the ball over and over again ... our midfield was obliterated.
We are coming from a long way back but i live in hope.

Go Blues!

I keep forgetting about this game. I just wanna smash the Toiges in the proper Rd 1.

I reckon we've either got the Brions at a great time (they're wonky after the GF and get better during the season) or at a shit time (they're mad after the GF and trail off during the season).

We went 15-1-10 last year and as good as some of the 15 were there was some horror shows amongst the 10.
I am hoping that the back end form rolls on this year but this club has let us down time and time again that I am not confident that by round 4 or 5 we are back to sacking Vossy.

Usually full of hope and excitement before round one but for what ever reason I have this feeling in my gut that we will come crashing down with a thud.

Bloody hope like hell I am wrong

Obviously you didn't have a healthy family member die a slow, painful and excruciating death from "the flu" during the pandemic

Oh...and a wife unable to work for 6 months (and still living with side effects) because of just "the flu"

I could say, "maybe you needed to experience what I experienced, so you'd have a more rational view about "the flu"

But that would be disrespectful of me so I won't say it

I agree that we rode our luck in the back end of last season with a lot of close matches falling our way.
Then again I thought the same about Collingwood's season in 2022.
Hopefully we can keep improving.

Lions at the Gabba is the toughest game on the fixture and we would have been heavy underdogs even with a full list. Rather have a free swing at this knowing that a L won't affect the season. I would hate to lose a game we should win because we were missing Weiters.

Yes I'm feeling the same.
Not really nervous about this match but we must beat the Tigers the following week.

Blake Acres was on TV this morning and confirmed Walsh will not play early in the season.
Going to be a tough gig.

It’s almost like mass exposure to the virus after years of vaccination and the subsequently reduced mortality rates it brought has allowed us to move from the pandemic stage to the endemic stage.

No Sam Walsh in full training today. Running solo earlier this morning.
It’s now three weeks since he’s trained with the main group.
Hard to seeing him playing in five days after a flight to Brisbane @7NewsMelbourne
@7AFL

If we're going to take the next step we need to be able to cover injured players...

What I've seen so far hasn't filled me any confidence... we still look very 2023 out there. A midfield reliant on Cripps and cut up in transition, a backline way too reliant on Weitering and long bomb f50 entries.

The Gabba is a hard away trip first up but it's a challenge we must meet if we're serious. Our mids really need to step up this week.

afraid not, both Durdins trained, Corey didn't do the full session, Owies basically said he's 50/50, has another training run to decide.

They seemed pretty flat to be honest.
