Happy with that. Saturday twilight is a good time too. We went over this year and will probably go again next year too.

The Age is running with the headline "Essendon* and Melbourne draw short straws for Gather Round"

No one cared when we got the Crows first up last year

Good to see we play a neutral team next year. Poor Essendon* and Melbourne, as you said no one cared about us this year.
I may go to this round. My sister has friends who live in Adelaide and they have invited us over to stay with them.

Why the %#@$….

is the AFL…”competing” with the NRL in
NSW…?

i don’t get it…!

why take a Carlton v Colon game up there…?

do they really think they’ll make an impact
in western Sydney…?

it’d be like trying to convert Trump supporters…
too late…they’re drunk on the stupid…NRL is
their game…done…!

kindest regards tommi

AFL is popular in Sydney despite the newspapers trying to relegate it to the small print, but they love their swannies and no one else. I reckon you could still get 40k to watch Carl-Coll but that's a pretty big deficit compared to an MCG clash.

A five day break for the Tigers going into 'Round 1' even better. I like the opposition we've got in the opening month. Bodes well for a good start. Not phased with a 15 day break going into the Good Friday clash.

March 8 - Bris (GABBA)
March 14 - Rich (MCG)
Round 3 - BYE
March 29 - North (Marvel)
April 6 - Freo (AO)

I would prefer to play lower ranked teams later in the season - often these teams start well then fade
Dont mind Brissy round 1 up there if you are going to get them this is a perfect opportunity

They're also playing in the searing daytime sun on the Gold Coast, we are playing after the sun goes down. Should favor us - I would be livid if I was a Richmond fan.

I see that the public holiday in melb was also used as a factor for the draw so that Victorians might travel. Nice way to keep the nsw and qld govts happy

You are supposed to build momentum early in the year, so they give Carlton the hardest road trip first up. Nice work AFL.

When was the last time Brisbane lost in Brisbane....well over a year ago.

Stupid schedule.

Can't wait to see Collingwood's easy run. They'll go interstate no more than 5 times and they'll get them spread out over the fixture nice and easy.

If the aim was to disappoint the greatest number of fans before the season starts, they’ve nailed it.
