Hard not to imagine how good our best would be with a better ruckman.

What a ride 2023 was.

If we'd won, we would have been so banged up for next week.

Brisbane should have had the game wrapped up early in the 3rd, surely they can't kick that badly again.

Bad luck blue boys. Gave everything you had. Amazing run from 15th on the ladder to a prelim and finishing 3rd for the year but just a bridge too far in the end. I'm not going to pot anyone, because they gave their absolute all. I think there will be a couple of players who would be disappointed with how they played, but this team has given us an incredible ride. Well done Carlton. Disappointing to lose but proud of the efforts

Lions had the fresher legs.

Marchbank was excellent intercepting and Boyd's laser kicks and pace were handy. Kennedy good when he came on. Midfield beaten.

I’ve no hate for Pitto and acknowledge his contributions. But imho we need more if we are to get to the promised land.

I was at the game and Marchbank was our best IMO.

So disappointed with this loss... not that losing to the Lions on their home deck by under 3 goals is so bad, but how this game has typified our season. Brilliant 1st qtr... the next 3 were embarrassing at times.

Our f50 entries were high and predictable and so many played their worst game for the year.

We fought it out but the scoreboard flattered us as the Lions held us at arms length.

Walsh was our standout and the best player of the finals series so far...

First quarter showed what we could be.

Rest of the game showed areas where we are still frail.

The boys have had a taste of finals intensity (that they missed out on last year) and learned some real lessons learned tonight about what we need to take that next step.

Top 4 should be our minimum expectation for next year, and the true start of our premiership assault.

Loved the first quarter we killed them and then the umpires gave them a free 1st goal when Brisbane should have been penalised for tripping or off the ball contact or whatever (if a Carlton player had done the same thing it would have been a free going Brisbane's way). But that was the ember that sparked the flames. After that we didn't make the most of our opportunities when we had them, executed poorly at times, missed gettable goals but can't fault the endeavour of the lads they fought til the end.

Hopefully the Lions can beat the filth.

some great efforts - Marchbank, Boyd, Walsh of course, in the end though a bridge too far - mind yiou if we had got to within 10 points with 7 minutes to go it might have gotten very interesting.

all our great teams i watched at the ground were blessed with a A-list ruckman. not sure TDK can ever be that, even though he showed huge heart and impact in SF and QF. Pitto, WYSIWYG i guess. hard to get one though and it might force TDK out so i doubt MC will go hunting a trade for an elite ruck.
