Couldn't sing you any bits of any songs from Taylor.

I liked Wrecking Ball...but that wasn't her...hmmm
Same with Keith Urban. Can't think of one line from one song, but he's huge!!

Same with Robbie Williams except I know a few lines. Especially now!
I'm definitely outside the mainstream hearing loop.
Some popular stuff just sort of floats past without sticking.

I got pilloried around here for suggesting that a year or two back though I may have used the word shit in my description…

I had no idea who she was until recently

I was so tempted to buy a T-shirt that popped up on Caz's facebook page recently.

"I am so glad I am old enough to remember the good bands."

Noomah Blue would agree.

Taylor is really good. Unbelievably talented. You all sound really old!

Someone said to me recently, "don't you feel bad going to the concert when so many of her fans will miss out?" to which I replied "I am a fan". This isn't just another pop act. 10 albums, all different. An extremely gifted songwriter, singer, live performer and the marketing...we've never seen anything like it. This is a cultural phenomenon - the likes of which haven't been seen before.

And yes - I'll be wearing my 1993 Mil Hanna jumper to the MCG in February (I don't have a Blake Acres one).

Yeah but….

“as sure as Kilimanjaro rises like Olympus above
the Serengeti”…!

the SERENGETI maaaaan…!

Exactly!

For one thing, Kilimanjaro doesn’t rise above the Serengeti....it rises above the Tsavo National Park. You can’t even see it from the Serengeti - they’re about 250 kilometres from each other!

Great tune though...

As someone who lived in the region for some years - and consequently got excited by any reference to east Africa - it is probably surprising that I DO NOT like that song!

(So what? You can rightly ask...)

Nice Gart….

but how do you feel about songs that reference
the west of Africa…?

are we East of Africa or West of Africa…?

i know we’re out of Africa…!

It always seemed kind of weird to me they kept singing about the rain in Africa at a time when there was a major drought killing hundreds of thousands of people in one corner of the continent.

Ok, you’ve convinced me, I’m going to make an effort to listen to her albums over the next week. Probably I missed all the hype because I was in Singapore and I relied on my daughter to bring “young music” to my attention, and she was more into BTS and Billie Eilish.

Mods - can you please remove the emoji from the title of this thread? It’s preventing me (and anyone else I assume) from posting in this thread using Tapatalk.

I had to use a browser to post this and the above posts.

Ah, Ed Sheeran, can anyone name two great songs that Ed and Taylor have released? I couldn’t name one song by either of them, I mean not even a great song, I couldn’t name any song by either of them.

Then there is Coldplay
They played in Perth last weekend
First two albums were great then it’s been shit
Ditto the Foo Fighters after there first 3 albums plus a couple of good songs per album after that
Or maybe I’m just old

Anyway good publicity for the club although I wouldn’t be surprised if Robbie really does give two shits about us
Good for his image

Realist
Are Abba still members
Look it’s good and fun surely you can see the BS mate
As for RW
Excellent performer but his music is vomit material imo
Just an opinion
Where all entitled to one as I scribe with my Mark of Cain Ill at Ease t shirt covering my torso
And when I see them at The Freo Social Club with 400 other demented pessimists at least we will all be there to hear the music
These big outdoor concerts are full of wankers in the audience who are there to just be there and really don’t give a shit about the music
Ah sorry Cazz getting a bit carried away

Onya keogh.

I know there's a few MoC fans on this forum, have you heard this band Chat Pile from Oklahoma? Their debut album "God's Country" came out last year. I haven't listened to it all yet but I got very ill at ease when I heard it, knowhatimean.
