My thoughts
Very scrappy game
I always take into account the opposition
Geelong were shit
They have a monster premiership hangover
Still think we are very slow with our ball movement and our one paced
The second quarter was the key
Geelong had a run on and Hawkins had a set shot he normally would kick
He misses ball goes up the other end and Charlie kicks an amazing goal
Game changer right there
A potential 14 point deficit turns into a 3 point deficit
Turning point last night
Charlie is such an instinctive player
Early days but I reckon the 2022 draft could be turning point for this club
Hollands and Cowan look really good
Cowan doesn’t panic and is very strong at the contest
Pick 30 great pickup
Hollands is terrific
Acres we know what your going to get from him
Only cost us a third rounder
Motlop was good to
That may have been how it looked on TV but at the ground it was very hard contested footy that whoever got the ball into space moved it into the forward line and gave themselves an opportunity to score. The pressure at the contested ball was immense, yet both teams were pretty clean by hand. The fact we won without dominating the contested footy shows we have improved immensely.
Carnna’s right.
It wasn’t a scrappy game. Highly contested.
The ball moved up and down the ground freely mostly.
I’m surprised it looked scrappy. Maybe tv production focussed in on close to the contest this game.
Geelong are not shit.
They are big, quick, experienced, skilful, experienced and position their bodies best of all in one on one contests.
They are freakish like Effendopes were in 2000. They know where to kick and we to punch the ball ala Doull.
Fantastic game.
We ran hard in 3’s and 4’s.
Like I said last week was rope a dope and nearly pinched it.
This game I expected a game plan like first 10 rounds last year before injuries.
Geelong have the deepest list in the comp. 32 players who can step in.
We don’t bat deep with classy ready players and have Walsh Hewett missing from the guts
We can play more than one way and we are still learning.
I love Carlton and Carlton makes Melb
Bourne the best city in the world.
We are still fkn peaking. Went off last night.
Now for the VFL tonight.
I’m heading for a day in Lyon st Lunch, drinks, dinner, footy, party!,,,
I wasn’t joking when I said we could be undefeated in first 10 rounds such is the growth to come in this squad.
PS. I Take back some of my negative thoughts on Silvagni. He compensates shortfalls with a 100% commitment to the chase and his pressure is through the roof.
