Not when he's ducking into a tackle.

It'd be pretty funny if after all these close wins they lost both finals by a kick

That would be my dream.
I won't lose this sad feeling until Collingwood are booted out of the finals. Hopefully it will be heartbreaking losses like the two we have just endured.

That’s right Kezz….

since the…”incident”…many of us are on a solid
dose of antibiotics….!

the doc reckons it’ll take between 3-4 weeks
before we’re feeling better….!

of course…if the antibiotics don’t work…?

well…we’ll know in 5 weeks…!

kindest regards tommi

They were next level feral on Sunday. There was a real air of menace at the ground, at least where I was sitting in AFL Members. We are probably going to get a separate Carlton membership of some kind next year just so we can sit with Carlton supporters at certain games.

I've heard several really rotten stories of their behaviour during and after the game and it just doesn't surprise me one bit. There's something wrong with most of them. They're obsessed with us to the point they can't act like decent human beings.

So glad you brought this up Miss- I was in the members also. The menace; and the sheer smartarsey (as BV calls it) was so evident- my brother and I walked out at the end of the game, heads bowed, not wanting to make eye contact with those supporters.....  BV makes an interesting observation about Colingwood having five players in their 30s- they remind me of the Carlton tema of 1999-2001 period where our bulwark was provided by ageing champions (Bradley, SOS; Ratten; Brown; and Sexton?), complimented by some stars at their peak (Kouta, Whitnall and Hamill); and good role players. We all know what happened when injuries and other teams working you out will follw.....

They probably won't care if they go out in straight sets by a kick after the siren in each - they ended our season so job done for them. Like I said, they're obsessed with us.

It's over it's done, we're all disappointed. No good looking back at ''what ifs''. But if you were to do that, how about this ''If Walsh plays we win''.

While overly simplistic and irrelevant it's what has been in my head all week.

For the first time in many years, this team is again competitive, far from perfect but competitive.
Time to look to the future with confidence.

Percentage of games won with the following midfielders playing…

Cripps 11/21 52.4%
Walsh 11/20 55.0%
Hewett 9/15 60.0%
Cerra 10/18 55.6%
Kennedy 12/17 70.6%

All five played together just 8 times during the year and we won 5 out of those 8 which is the equivalent of almost 14 wins for the year.

Add to that the benefits that will come with them playing together more often and we’re not that far off.

Obviously there are loads of areas we can still improve all over the ground (and in their heads) but if we can keep those guys on the park we’ll go a long way towards being a top four side.

Considering we were missing three of those guys on Sunday it was a phenomenal effort.

I know the injuries were a concern - I think if you lose players they can cover this the following week
the major problem was we kept having players go down early in games and they were often players where the sub wasn't suited - So a side that was already depleted would have to restructure during a game to cover - It wasn't sustainable
Omac went down before half time against dogs it allowed dogs back in the game
Gov hit the ground hard and was on and off ground against dogs
We lost Cripps in first quarter against Gold coast whilst in front
We lost Pitto 1st quarter against Freo and Harry injured himself and although he played the next week it was obvious he wasn't right - we were leading at the time
Weiters went off against north at half time
Martin first quarter crows
Williams first quarter GWS
Cerra first quarter Essendon*
Weiters again against Pies
Hewitt got hit hard against Geelong and although he played out game was clearly hampered
In the Crows game we lost Durdin and Newman in the first quarter and then Kennedy straight after half time - played the entire 2nd half 2 men down

then to go into the last game without Kennedy Hewitt and Walsh I am surprised we lost by a point - how much better would we have been if Ed Curnow was fit and we said sit on Pendles - Ed not in the starting 22 but when you are down so many he would have been handy

you wonder if it is all bad luck or is it partly bad management

More than a few Collingwood supporters I overheard while entering the ground were saying they were happy he was out.

Based on that, no Kennedy, no Carlton

Every preseason, we say wouldn't it be nice if we finally get a good run with injuries. But we never do.

Really has to be addressed now

Yep as simple as that for me. Happens every year. Health and durability of the list is the most underrated factor in success. Not many teams are going to do well with core players out and a lack of stability in the side week to week. Look at Melbourne’s injury run last year, basically no key player on the injury list at all, and it contributed greatly to their success.
