Hewett to have an absolute blinder against his old mob and rub some serious salt into the wound

Quite a few on here calling for Dow to be brought in to the side.
I'm worried about his lack of defensive pressure, intensity and hard running to provide an option. For the first time in more than 20 years we are playing with GRIT and this is something I hope we can maintain.

That's what I would opt for.

Basically reverts back to our structure of the first 8 rounds.

Also, I wouldn't be averse to bringing Cottrell into the 22 and making Newnes med-sub.

young to forward line help charlie ,we cant allow Mcartin boys to intercept and send syd off with quick ball movement. We need HUGE numbers in the tackling column this week ess laid 30 so we need to bring pressure and tackles or else swans skillful players will cut us up.

Good point about the Mcartin brothers, and Young would really test them on the marking issue. Leaves Kemp in the backline to reinforce his claim for a permanent spot.

Who replaces Owies small forward role?

It always has been like for like with this coaching group. They like the current system. And it's working.

Every good side has players who simply play a role and don't star every week. Don't underestimate Owies value to the forward structure

Owies is the only guy in our team who appeared to have a dirty day to me. I'd still be reluctant to drop him though given his contribution so far

He nails those 2 snaps for goal in the third quarter and we would have had the game wrapped up by 3/4 time - and less of a dirty day - but he should have nailed them nonetheless

Taylor and Haynes are better than the McCartin brothers.
I am not worried in the slightest about them after the weekend.
Seems not much love for Owies ,I felt like this about Fisher a few weeks back and are eating my words now.
I wouldn't be dropping Owies especially not to make way for Dow. There is more intensity in Owies big toe than Dows whole body.. 15 disposals for a small forward which is essentially the hardest position to play is not a bad effort. The goals will come.
Let Dow wait to back end of the year when top 8 is stitched up and someone needs a spell.

Young was looking very settled down back. He’s our long term key position partner for Weiters. Leave him back and let them build their chemistry. We’re way too short down back without Young there.

I’d rather throw Kemp forward. He doesn’t have a position locked down yet so he can make so with whatever opportunity arises, which is now forward. He was playing forward in the twos as well

It’s better to go in with an undersized forward line than an undersized backline. You can control how the ball enters your forward 50, you can’t control how it enters your defensive 50.

Are people legit suggesting Owies had a bad game? He missed goals a small forward should eat but he also made a bloke who has been in the AA team or squad for 5 years as an intercept defender a total non issue. (I agree with Syd)

No way Owies gets dropped.

Carrol didn't play well.

I'd have thought Stocker for Williams makes sense. If Stocker is fit.

Is Martin fit?

Young replaces Kemp. Tough to drop a kid after one game.
Don't mind the Kemp forward ides but not sure it'll transpire.

I'm going Stocker for Williams, Young for Kemp and Martin for Carrol

Avoiding the McFartin bros will be key. Charlie might need to continue leading to the boundary in a defensive forward ploy. I can see Syd doing their homework though and dropping a McFartin in the way there. So we'd better be ready for that. Martin could benefit if that's the case. Or even Kemp on the rough chance he goes forward.

Odds currently Carlton $1.90 and Sydney $1.94.
I suspect the 5 day turnaround will be a big factor. Sydney doesn't have many injuries either.

With indigenous round played this week and Martin and Williams both out injured, Motlop will most likely be selected to play given he's the only indigenous player left standing. Just a hunch.

Someone indigenous has to call the coin toss.

May just happen

Can't wait to fly to Melb and watch this game at the Dome. I love watching footy at The Dome...when Carlton play.
