What did you hear Tommi?
He seemed to be quite restricted late in the game.

It was suggested on another forum last week that he would be consulting
an interstate specialist and was done for the year.

How on earth is Sam Durdin an automatic selection? He's played half a game after landing on the scrap heap from North. Who is he replacing? And how is he ahead of McGovern and Marchbank for that role?

To be fair it was looking pretty well impossible for him to get back before the end of the year anyway. We haven't heard a word about him for 6 weeks and there's only 6 games to go

He’s no certainty for me, but the answer to that last question is pretty obvious.

Like the boss says, the best ability is availability.

Fair point. I usually think of automatic selections as best 22 regardless of injuries. Either way, I see Durdin as backup to Weiters/Young only

Yeah, same.

Mind you, Weitering in an intercept role would give them something to think about.

Weitering or Young could play intercept role.
Might even be worth thinking about it v Hawkins and Cameron. Basically play 3 v 2 and shuffle everyone else up to cover the others

Looks like Martin, Pittonet and Guv may all come back via the vfl this weekend.

Quote:
Coach Michael Voss said last week the Blues would treat each player returning from injury on a case-by-case basis.

“We’re not sitting here saying we have to rush anything,” Voss said. “We want sustainability, we don’t just want to fix an acute area and think that’s going to change everything for us.

“We have to play the long game and make sure they’re ready to go and help us get momentum.”

HERE'S where things stand from a Carlton injury standpoint leading into Round 18:

Jack Martin (calf)

- Has not been able to increase his training loads at this stage
- He will not play this weekend and will be assessed further ahead of next week

Matt Owies (calf)

- Was a late withdrawal last week against the Eagles due to a calf strain
- Currently expected to be sidelined for the next two weeks

Mitch McGovern (hamstring)

- Has completed another week of full training
- Will make his return through the VFL this weekend

Marc Pittonet (knee)

- Has completed another week of full training
- Will make his return through the VFL this weekend

David Cuningham (knee)

- Has not been able to increase his training loads at this stage
- Aim is still for him to play in the back end of the season

Caleb Marchbank (knee)

- Back into the skills program as he increases his training loads
- Aiming to return to play in the next fortnight

Zac Williams (calf)

- Continuing to build up his running program
- He is progressing as planned with a view to return to play in the last fortnight of the season

Not great news about Owies, but at least we have numbers in that area. I suppose we'll keep Pitto a secret so he can smash the pussies in September.

Do Owies and Martin share the same calf?
