I don't know if many here know of Alan Rees, but growing up my family would regularly end up after a Carlton home match at the Sydenham Hotel in Richmond where Alan was the publican. His pub was frequented with Carlton footballers and staff. I remember Alan as a great friend of my father Peter and a generous soul who would always look after the children of friends. My most vivid memory of the Sydenham Hotel was when the Punks who were about to play a music gig that night, would walk around with a bucket requesting money from the Carlton people, often unsuccessfully.

I was saddened to hear of Alan's passing, he was a true Carlton person. Vale Alan Rees.

No, I do not know him

But any true Carlton man needs to be remembered

Thanks for sharing that vintage.

I went to the Sydenham for the music in evenings or for lunch when I worked around the corner circa 1990

I wish I knew he was a Carlton man.
