Two sides flying at the moment...........Dees and Lions..............i believe the legacy of Jordan Lewis at the Dee's and Luke Hodge at the Lions has set them up.You can talk and talk and talk .Actions speak louder than words.I believe the on field actions of Lewis and Hodge has left an indelible print on these sides which is evident in the infield performances of these two sides. There is an example for our club there ..................get gutsy Blues..............go get someone the equal of Hodge and Lewis.

Go get Joel Selwood..........a magnificent leader...........be bold,be brave,do it.

Agree Mick - good post
Need winners in this joint across all lines (players, coaches, management) to set the standards.
Call out the crap with some authority

Letting Hodge Lewis and Mitchell go when they still had plenty in the tank to guide and teach the next generation was Hawks' loss and WCE, Dees and Lions win.

I don't think Cats would do a Mansfield with Selwood.
I don't think Selwood will fizz out like Mansfield.
I don't think the Cats would trade out a Captain.
I think his farewell to Football will be done by design.

But if Joel was available ... at a reasonable price...I agree, we need a winners direction and leadership to add to our current leaders Walsh and Weitering.

There must be other candidates to consider for an onfield leadership, teaching role, but as we've discussed previously, Selwood is the best target.

We need them now, or at the latest next preseason and all the 2022 season.

I agree with the premise of the argument .... But Lewis was putrid at Melbourne.

He was there for 3 years. Did really well with Dees. May have played one year too many, but he was an on field coach for the younger brigade who are killing it this year.

Dees had a shocking run with injury end of 2018, something like 23 players had preseason ops. The whole team imploded in 2019.

I don’t think I’d want to be poaching any of the Cats leadership.

Not totally dismissive, just wary.

We were outmuscled and out skilled today in the middle.. smashed in the contest and execution with ball in hand was poor.

No doubt we need players that can set a standard in the midfield for a year or two.

Being bold and daring isn’t copying what other clubs have done.

Well if you think Nathan Fyfe can play till he is 33 then throw $1m per year for five years at him

If he sees the club has a chance to play finals with his inclusion he might accept who knows.

But definitely need more leadership, hardness and skill in the midfield.

Yep but what I don’t understand, is why Cripps was more concerned about engaging with his opponent then getting the ball. Strange mentality today.

Selwood won’t leave Geelong
No brainer
I think the idea has merit

I doubt Fyfe would leave but he isn’t the answer
He isn’t well liked by some
Comes across as arrogant aloof and up himself
He is a Lake Grace boy to boot
Great player but wrong personality
Ask Lachie Neale

Seems to me Yze may be the difference at Melb.

History repeats.

1. Relying on 1 star in the midfield
2. Old ex-stars in the team who shouldn't be in the team
3. We will probably get Lyon now and repeat the Pagan/Malthouse mistake all over again.

What a stupid, stupid club.

I like the title of this thread.

Everyone on TC whinges about the kicking of goals by the opposition in time in virtually every match. Yes?

Well ... I just finished watching a reply of our great 1995 GF win. Geeeelong kicked 4 goals in time on 4th quarter.

History repeats and we only won by 61 points.
