we need hard runners more sheer pace ,i totally agree so why do we recruit kennedy and setters just 1 example.

Setters has heaps of potential. Last year he was top AF points on the ground at half time in one or two games and consistent in most. Seems a fraction slow at times in decision making but if he can adjust to the AFL pace and get a couple of full preseasons in he might come good. Quite athletic. Seems to smash it at VFL level. Maybe not a natural footy player like Walsh, but who is?

Given his performances in 19/20 should be a keeper but performances this year ordinary to say the least

Cottrell Gibbons or Fogarty Owies with Betts

Too many midgets who can't break a tackle.

Or stick a tackle. Gibbons tackles must be an AFL in joke.

Exactly. The fact Betts is still our only ‘true genuine’ small forward is a concern. I’m talking Kysaiah Pickett type of skilled forward.

Gibbons cannot play midfield. He is simply too small and his tackles don't stick. He is a wingman but even there let's be honest we need someone better. He certainly has hit his ceiling and it isn't high enough.

Actually he's ranked 8th in tackles per game at 2.45. He's nuggety and strong bodied.

It's actually a pretty interesting list. Probably most disappointing are Betts and Murphy equal 18th at 1.78. And Newnes, SPS and Plowman right near the bottom of the list. You can see why the MC have lost patience with Murphy and SPS.

Gibbons « tackles » might appear on the stat sheet as being exemplary tackles but every second one is broken free of by the opposing player, usually with space to run and dispose well from which makes even more damaging. It’s psychologically damaging to other players around him too. And when he’s tackled he coughs it up far too much or gives away a free in on their half forward line where defenders get less latitude for holding on to it (unless they play for Richmond of course, in which case “play on”).

Don't think broken tackles are credited as tackles.

Just watched that first bounce again.

Pitto did puts his arms out, but not sure if Swans' ruckman didn't do the same.

The fact that Sinclair was clearly trying to tap the ball as well, helped his cause for sure.

Just watched the second quarter replay, we absolutely dominated the quarter and amongst other plays had six easy shots on goal that were missed, three from the top of the square and three running towards goal from around 35 metres.

If we kicked even three of those six we would have won.

Agree Sin 3 missed shots or opportunities in the goal square in that quarter just do the basics right and take your opportunities
Never seen a side that just can’t or won’t take its opportunities when they create many almost inspire of themselves

Interesting. Watched Q1 & Q2 replay of Sydney game last night and he stuck a couple. But my memory of several games this year is watching him go for a tackle and just knowing he’s either getting a don’t argue to the throat and falling over or will he flung aside in a step or two. Not sure if it the tackle counts if the ball spills to opponents advantage? Richmond have been bending the rules for three seasons getting so much latitude on their “individual genius” dependent game strategy exploiting that.

Much like Setters was better in his first season of AFL for us. What’s in the water down at PP? Dank pokie revenue (blood money) karma for one. Ghosts of John Eliot shonky payments under the table for another!

I think our fitness guru is a problem. Stand next to the rake, if I see you, you’re back into a conditioning program.

Whatever happened to tackling or wrestling programs? Do we do these?
