Yes I have been to a footy game or 2 in
My life.
The question is how as a club do we get better on field
At the moment there is a reasonable sample size from 10 games that we haven’t gone anywhere in the last 2 years.
A guy gets 18 or so possessions a week as a wing/ half forward doesn’t have a real physical presence about him and has been like that for a long time.
He is nearly 34
In the past decade I thought Gibbs and Murphy should have been dropped because they were basically downhill skiers.
As I said the pressure you exert on the opposition when they have the ball is crucial

What has helped Murphy get games is our crap depth
When was the last time we had a decent reserve team with a dozen or so players putting selection pressure on the seniors

Look at last week
You only mount a case for Honey
Kemp needs at least a month to 6 weeks of footy before being considered

KK the other thing about Murphy is he is a nice player
He doesn’t have enough shit in him
Owies and Cottrell from my observations have a bit of mongrel something this club desperately needs more of

Pure speculation but there was an article in one of the papers about Murphy weighing up whether to continue in 2022.
Clearly the club has no desire to have him on the list next year

On the other hand maybe they want to make sure he plays on by pushing his 300th into next year.

on the scg that could bounce through for a goal!!

I remember a game in 1997 when carlton played at the scg.
Kerna at CHF.
Ball went over his head every time we won the centre clearance.
We lost that game by 10 goals.
I lost all my bets.

We just didn't adjust.

Maybe 10 years ago, no later, the length of the SCG was increased by 10 metres.
SCG playing area is now 155 x 136.
Similar to Gabba and Metricon in QLD

The dome is 160 x 129
The MCG is 161 x 138

Its not too small anymore
But it is the shortest by 1 metre

Other than Stocker (20yo), Walsh (20yo), Cottrell (21yo) we have a mature team named.

Of those named to be considered for the interchange I expect the following to be named:

Parks (20yo), DeKoning (21yo)

Maybe 23rd man:

Honey (20yo)

Hopefully we are stronger and tougher for longer, and I'm still shitting myself at the thought of Jones on Buddy.
I'm still scared from a couple years back when Buddy kicked 10 against an absolute air head of a defensive display, when Jones looked like he didn't want to go near Buddy.

There is no way Jones goes anywhere near buddy !!

Buddy would be laughing all the way to 1000 goals ...

Teague said in his interview yesterday that Jones has done well against Buddy last couple of games.
A hint of things to come?

IIRC Buddy didnt play in the last couple games.

Levi, in form, is a huge in at the SCG.

Swans defense is not tall.

Obviously something Teague wants to exploit

So does anyone disagree that it was Murphy’s best game last week of the year?

And we omit him.

I’m confused

IMO Murphy played his best quarter for the year, the 3rd ... after receiving a spray from Teague, for his 9 possession first half.

Took a spray to motivate him.

He had 10 disposal/ 2 contested in quarters 1,2 & 4
He had 8 disposals/ 4 contested in 3rd Qtr.
He faded badly in the last with 1 possession.

Swans play a physical game. Its not the type Murph would excel in.

Good move if he's 23rd man. He closkd up game no. 294.
6 more to 300 after this one.

Bondi,Swans are a young side.Reckon they would be due to fall off the cliff anytime soon.

Plenty of other times the past couple of years where Murphy probably deserved to be dropped to 'make a statement' (although I assume he'll be the sub this week), yet they pick the week after he was actually pretty good :screwy:

I was at that game (was living in Sydney at the time) and remember exactly the same thing. I kept expecting us to work it out an adjust but, no, we just kept doing the same thing.

You know you are offending the Murphmites ,who don’t want him to ever retire !! Apparently was boak , and Mundy do at their age is a unfair comparison to what Murphy brings ...

And honey should be 23rd man tomorrow , with his pace late in a game of required could be required ina tight game

Swans lost their mojo when their game plan to run in numbers from the backline got exposed.
They played similar game like Demons, but in bigger swarms.
They took advantage of the new rules. The comp has cottoned on.
I hope Teague has.

WE can beat these kids.
As long as we keep Buddy and Papley in check.
Ed gets Parker, or Heeney if he;s playing midfield.

Just win the midfeild battle FFS.
