Both AFL and VFL teams flew to Sydney yesterday.

First time for a long long time I'm going to enjoy a Carlton Double Header with the reserves playing the curtain raiser at 11.30am.

That means the 23rd and maybe a 24th player will be held back for the seniors which starts at 3.30pm.

I'm not sitting in the Members. Can only cause a problematic afternoon with rival supporters.
I have a few mates in Members who love baiting them.
They don't have the class of carlton supporters

If anyone hears where they are training over the next few days, please post or pm details.
SCG is a 8 minute drive from home. I will not be driving on such a BIG footy day.

Martin for Gibbons
Parks for Plowman
Honey for Cottrell

Williamson still makes those spontaneous runs from defence which go nowhere, and still gets caught in the VFL trying to do too much; Bower style.
And this super boot some keep referring to doesn't feature in the VFL. From the games I've seen or any highlights you will see, his kicks are dinky short passes.
He's either a wingman, or a VFL player in 2021. Not enough time imo to iron out bad habits, and no right side by hand or foot.

Have a good feeling about this game. Blues to win.
The sunshine will give the boys a boost of Vitamin D...and the smell of surf...I hope they don't think they're on holidays.

Hey Bondi, can we use our SCG AFL match tickets to get early entry to see the reserves?

Good question.

I'm buying tickets to stay away from Members, and I assumed I would get in with the same ticket for the Double Header.

I have to make sure of that and ask the right people.

Will be competing with the Swans late in the year for a spot in the 8 if we are good enough.
Absolutely a MUST win game if we want to play finals.

The VFL (and VFLW) round has been called off, which means that we took the whole squad to Sydney, but only those who play in the seniors get a game this weekend.

Hopefully we can set up a scratch match with the Swans. There's no reason our VFL squad should miss out on a hitout if they're in Sydney.

Correct. Not an official game, but should be applying for a practice match for the VFL guys...

But then again, that would make sense

Go Blues!

Spewing.

This was going to be my flash back to the good old days with curtain raiser.

That's life.

Feel for Melbournians. Hope this outbreak gets sorted out quick smart.

Good idea.

It depends on how many peripheral players flew up with the team yesterday.

Last week there was only 11 listed players playing, including Honey who was 23rd/Med sub, but played VFL.

Durdin did his hammy in the warm up.
Levi and dow are available this week too...makes it 12 players who might be up here.

Round 11 squad:

FB: Adam Saad - Liam Jones - Nic Newman

HB: Liam Stocker - Jacob Weitering - Zac Williams

C: Sam Docherty - Patrick Cripps - Matthew Cottrell

HF: Sam Walsh - Jack Silvagni - Matthew Owies

FF: Lachie Fogarty - Harry McKay - Eddie Betts

R: Marc Pittonet - Will Setterfield - Ed Curnow

Extended interchange:

Levi Casboult - Tom De Koning - Michael Gibbons - Josh Honey - Jack Martin - Marc Murphy - Jack Newnes - Luke Parks

I guess three of these guys will definitely not play. Probably Newnes, Honey and Casboult?

I'd say we'll be staying in Sydney and playing West Coast there. That or we will have a one week early bye given Carlton and the Eagles have their bye on the same weekend.

Looks like Parks and Martin in for Plowman and Gibbons.

Guess Interchange Murphy Martin TDK Parks.

If Levi was in top form as backman he'd probably take Plows spot this week.

Me too.

Was really looking forward to your observations after you cast your eye on our reserves squad.

Hopefully you are right. Wouldnt mind seeing Willo have a crack on the wing at some stage.

The Carlton game centre says “SCG gates open from 11:25am ahead of the VFL curtain opener from 11:30am and main game from 3:20pm.” Are you sure the game isn’t on?

I know I'm always critical of Levi but if he was fit and still clunking marks you wouldn't hesitate to pick him to play in Sydney.
Because of the shape of the ground a CHF is next to useless. Forwards need to play deep. But what you need more is the get out ball up the wing.
Levi can be good at that but his form this year is woeful

Can't wait to see Saad kicking it long from half back on the SCG.

Harry showing Franklin a thing or two about how big left foot forwards play.

Massive out.

Sinclair has played his best games vs Carlton. Shits me because otherwise he's useless and left in the Ressies waiting for the next call up.
