Well, we're getting reamed on Sunday...

He played a very good 3rd quarter and that's it.
Let's not get carried away and hanging his hat on 1 good quarter of footy from our so called leader is hardly playing a good game.
He should have been dropped weeks ago and it's time we as a club move on from his era.
Owies, Martin, Fisher, SPS, Dow and Fogarty all can do what he has done for the last 2 seasons.
Playing 1 good quarter every 7 weeks from a 33 year old is NOT going to benefit us going forward.

And since then they have been very sorry for this decision and they now know it's not in the best interests of mother AFL and they will make sure they fall in line and atone for this past discretion. Long live the AFL.
I too think we're getting reamed.

Exactly
In fact the club should have not offered him a 2 year contract 3 years ago
Has been a good player for the club but you gotta know when it’s time to go
Many people don’t and have to be tapped on the shoulder
As a senior player he offers next to nothing in terms of leadership

So much of today’s footy is based on what you do when you don’t have the ball
Owies shows that with pressure
Murphy is contemplating another year
He clearly doesn’t get it
His time was up a while back
Get out when your on top

I agree that Murph is in the twighlight of his career but I think he kept getting games because he was one of the few that would lower his eyes and hit a target going inside 50. I assume they think Martin can do that this week.

I don’t hate anyone
It’s the big picture
We need to look to the future
Murphy should not have been offered a contract 3 years ago for 2 years.
Zero leadership
As I said it’s what a side does when they don’t have the ball which is just as important in today’s footy
Murphy simply doesn’t cut it in that area and hasn’t since he ducked his shoulder years ago

Keep him out of the team barring injuries and give him a send of game at the end of the year.

The club’s future is bigger than one individual a philosophy the club has actually gone in the opposite direction to.

Here is the deal
If Murphy hadn’t been offered a one year contract would any of the other 17 clubs wanted him
Maybe the Saints and they don’t count given how they have [REDACTED] up their drafting

Other than Stocker (20yo), Walsh (20yo), Cottrell (21yo) we have a mature team named.

Of those named to be considered for the interchange I expect the following to be named:

Parks (20yo), DeKoning (21yo)

Maybe 23rd man:

Honey (20yo)

Hopefully we are stronger and tougher for longer, and I'm still shitting myself at the thought of Jones on Buddy.
I'm still scared from a couple years back when Buddy kicked 10 against an absolute air head of a defensive display, when Jones looked like he didn't want to go near Buddy.

Other than Jones I can't see another match up for Buddy. Weiters is too slow and the others are all too small. Out of left field, but I would consider Casbault who has played some good games in defense before. He won't be outmarked but will be exposed on the lead so others would have to block that lead.

You lost me at Dow. When was the last time he played a good game ? Compare his stats to Muprhy's for the last 2 seasons and get back to me. And don't use the "potential " bullshit. He has been here for 4 years and done F - all. Gets worse every year when others are improving.

Anyway you look at it, after last weeks game, the Murphy omission this week is strange. Can’t say it’s the only week where selections have raised eyebrows.
Let’s hope the players with questionable disposal, limited skills and not enough ball, who are still in the side, don’t let the coach down.
There is only one reason I can think off these guys are in the side instead of Murphy this week and that is the SCG. They better bring their defensive side!!

Pure speculation but there was an article in one of the papers about Murphy weighing up whether to continue in 2022.
Clearly the club has no desire to have him on the list next year

Not even geelong and he fits their criteria being over 30
