Would have liked to see Dow up against Cousins in the centre.
Cousins 2 1/2 years older than Dow.
One was pick 3, the other a rookie.

Hawks back Cousins to play centre, alongside Mitchell and O'Meara.
Must be OK. Dow has better stats. Just sayin.

Lets see what Cousins has got for Walsh instead.

Crippa monster time.

Mitchell, O'Meara, Worpel, Wingard, Impey, Bruest, Shiel and McEvoy are all good players. The Hawks will be fired up after last week and won't be easy.

If he was dropped he’d be playing VFL, my guess is that they’re worried that Harry won’t get up so he’ll play if he’s really needed. He’s obviously injured and they’re giving him some time to recover.

Something to contemplate as to what does club stands for ??

What does any club stand for? What does that even mean when people say this?

We’re an AFL club, not a political party.

Cmon....its like the Shinboner spirit.

You know like:
"Hey we've got the shinboner spirit"
"Yeah, you've got the shinboner spirit"
"Let's play like we've got the shinboner spirit"
Yeah, the shinboner spirt".
"That Michael Jordan he's so phoney kind of shinboner spirit"
"Yeah"

Except we have the:
"we are Carlton F*^$ the rest spirit"

or the:
"Can you smell what we're cooking spirit"

Ours is more like “can you smell our spirit”

Smells like teen spirit?

Fancy dropping Parks ahead of Plowman.
Then we wonder why Plowman and Murphy get away with sub standard efforts coz they know that they are guaranteed selection week in week out.
Absolute joke

Yep , agree

FFS why would you drop Parks

Because he wasn’t good last week or the week before.

Actually he was terrible last week.

How about Gibbons retaining his spot.

Yes that I don’t get, but I guess no vfl form to go on

Like the Ins. You can't drop them all. I thought Parks was very average last week but over his time he has been far more willing to work hard than Plowman who phones it in week after week. Anyway, apart from that I feel like it's a pretty positive match selection

I’m not the biggest Plow fan, I think he’s ok, but what did he do that was so bad last week?

Parks struggled.

No doubt BUT he’s more physical than Plowman and could have he’d his spot

Quote:
Ned Reeves will become the tallest player ever to play for Hawthorn when he makes his AFL debut against Carlton this weekend.

With a listed height of 211cm (6ft11), Reeves has impressed as a ruckman at VFL level this season and will slot into Alastair Clarkson’s senior side for the first time on Saturday.

“It’s pretty crazy, I don’t really know what to feel yet but I’m sure it will sink in soon,” he said on Thursday.

“I just want to play my role and really compete hard when I’m in the ruck and give the best service to the mids as possible.”

McEvoy / Reeves

vs

Pittonet/ DeKoning

Should be good. Reeves is a bean pole but 8cm taller. TDK will out jump him. TDK has longer arms....TDK has to win the duel.

Pitto and McEvoy are the same height.

Go Blues

I like Parks but he was beyond ordinary last week. Go back, work on it, see you in a fortnight.

No doubt their midfield is their strength, we must at least break even with their midfield and then the rest should take care of it's self.

Bruest and Shiel from that list have had a field day against us. I'm sure O'Meara also dominated our last game. Cripps and Co must at least break even.

Have to laugh. If you don't you'll cry.

Dow omitted, used as sub, didn't play at all, then omitted, then promoted after 1 game.
Gibbons omitted for poor form, used as sub, average game, then promoted again.

NFI.

Mind boggling

I know Gibbo is one of our elite runners, but that's it really. Role player? He's average at best imo.

Should be playing Dow. We need to build his confidence and a light bulb moment should happen for him.

He has got weapons.

The Hawks play the angles. Its not north south east west with this mob.Always chip that 45 degree angle.Thats what they did last time when they cut us to ribbons. So,Dave Teague be on your game.I think he will be onto there criss cross style and have a strategy in place.I think we can win this game and win well.I reckon our lesser lights e.g.Setters,Cotts are gonna shine.I also thought Williams showed a bit last week ( to much talent to be down forever )..........reckon if these blokes run hard through the guts we will win. Also reckon Jack's gusto will rub off on his teammates................its now or never Blues.

The Great Man will have them up and about after last week ... but our best is much better than their’s and seriously if we can’t beat this mob ...
The melts will be bigger than what’s breaking away from Antarctica.

Reckon we at least deserve a 10-goal thrashing of this lot.

It’s bewildering alright.
Maybe he’ll kick 4 and prove us wrong but on available evidence it’s a selection based on what he might do not what he has done.
Dow isn’t banging the door down but has surely done enough to warrant another chance in an area we are deficient?!

You know what , I watched my blue heaven this morning to watch his review of the game and he made some good points , who gives a shit who is playing , what tactics there is , there is no excuse tomorrow with this hawks club that we can’t beat

This is our line in the sand moment as dermie said about the hawks all those years ago against the drug cheats !!

So the question who will be our Richie vanderberg tomorrow???

We have been bullied for ever by this club

I will never forget Clarko for the Aiken king hit in 87 and fev flood to deny him his 100 goals

This game tomorrow is more than just a game it’s about something going forward to success ... and yes that’s how dramatic tomorrow is ....

The whole club is on notice

Hawthorn were embarrassed by Norf last week, and have made it clear in the media that a lack of toughness at the contest is what brought them undone.

If our players go out there 'surprised' at their aggression and intensity, they officially have no @#$%&! brains in their head.

Agree Don but don’t we get surprised by the other teams aggression every week the match against the Carringbush the best exemplification of this
Get out their play mature sustained tough football from the start and beat the second bottom side simple as that no rah rah just deliver without talk and spin and beat a side that isn’t very good and who we owe big time
No excuses and our leaders lead we desperately need a win so play like it this passive I’ll turn up for 3 quarters crap and we are nearly there attitude has to stop

What worries me is that we’ll go a bit too hard (for not a lot of reward on the scoreboard) for the first half in anticipation of their pressure in response to their loss to North last week.

Hawthorn will expect this and will cruise along for the first half possibly down by 2 - 4 goals, come out after half time and turn on the pressure for a 20 minute purple patch through to 3QT while we shit the bed.

We’ll go into the last break down by a couple goals with confidence shot yet again.
Hawthorn cruise through the last quarter to a comfortable win.

Sounds familiar eh?
