As for a small forward, we need players that can run through the middle and rest forward not just a positional player.
Rest Cripps.

Problem is the current crop who are resting forward and can run through the middle, as you say, but don’t know how to be a small forward or can’t play that role. Martin and Fisher are bigger loses then we thought as they both do hit the score board. Maybe Honey or Durdin might be ready soon but I’m inclined to now push Williams and SPS in there and hope Cunners, Fogarty and Murphy can play more midfield? Throw Stocker and Kennedy in ASAP as well. Just need to get away for the Gibbons, Newnes, Cottrell experiments. It ain’t working.

Team from Bolton's last game:
B N. Newman, L. Casboult, L. Plowman
HB S. Petrevski-Seton, J. Weitering, C. Marchbank
C S. Walsh, P. Cripps, W. Setterfield
HF J. Silvagni, C. Curnow, M. Gibbons
F D. Lang, H. McKay, Z. Fisher
FOL M. Kreuzer, D. Cuningham, E. Curnow
I/C A. Fasolo, L. Stocker, P. Dow, M. Kennedy

3 years later arguably we'll field a weaker side.

That is quite scary. We have injuries, but only 3 players are not on our list today.

Where are all the draft picks since then?

Some may find this a heroic sentiment. I find it cowardly. Sure, many of the baggers need to harden up and play more accountable football. but that’s a really stupid idea.

Their pace will really stretch us... I have no confidence whatsoever... but losing is not an option...

They will get physically monstered - don't benchmark them against Collingwood they are definite bottom four.

Me too.
Can't see how we will kick a winning score.

The drug cheats spread is going to kill us next week ...

And if we don’t beat this mob next week , a long winter is ahead

No Ridley or sheil
Darcy parish and McGrath had the ball on a string

And there is no way we are stopping tippa next week , he was untouchable today and our defence dont know how to control small forwards

One of the worst performances I have seen this team play where the coach had to break a table so they can wake up. If they play Suns at Gold Coast or Freo they will get flogged.

A win is a non negotiable

But I can’t see us beating them

I have no faith in this team

Do we really need to keep playing Casboult?
I know he is a big body and can help out in the ruck but surely there are better options.
Maybe having McKay, McGovern and one of Silvagni (if fit) or Kennedy as the three talls up forward would work better. Jones could pinch hit in the ruck when required.
Teague needs to be creative and somehow try to reinvigorate our structure and game plan or otherwise we are clearly destined for a bottom 4 finish.

Sorry mate we're not going anywhere with our selections and game plan.
We crowd our forward line with midgets that take away space and think thay are kp, we do not tackle with intent, our clearances are atrocious as is our disposal. I will stop there for now as its mind boggling trying to understand what full time players are doing every day to improve their deficiencies or what they are been taught.

After watching today's game, I can't believe we lost to Pies.
They were really bad. I guess they have a few important players out injured.
They made Effendrugs look good.

Effendrugs are a really young side
True they've looked good vs Saints and Swans, but then again, are they any good this year?
Swans kids are tiring and also played on much tighter than first 3 weeks.

What I saw vs Lions is Carlton allowed the Lions a lot of space, and didn't pay enough respect for their opponent.
We should have won last night but probably don't know what it takes to get over the good teams.

Sunday at the G.
If it rains we should win
If its dry, their spread is what may hurt us.

I'm going to have to have another look at Lions game to see where we are at.
I liked our 1st quarter a lot, and our last. Shows we can play when we... I don't know what it is.
When we bring intensity and play a selfless game.

We have to win. Have to.
Effendrugs are 4% ahead of us, hence above us on the ladder.
Have to win.

I disagree but thats what makes Carlton forums great.
We were never going to beat top four sides with this injury list. We need our best players on the park. We have been competitive against top four teams just lacking class we have that class just injured.

Travelling as expected with everything considered. Not going to play this many top four type teams 2nd half of year so I prefer to keep the faith and trust the club - but that's just me.

Watching Darcy Parish today gives me just that little bit of hope that Paddy Dow can make it into the player we're after. It's taken Parish 6 years to turn his career around. Almost on the scrap heap at Essendon*.
Paddy has been around 4 years ..... time to talk to Darcy or Darcy's shrink.

...and me too.

I didn't watch the game live. I watched the replay this morning knowing the result.
So I didnt feel emotionally invested as I wouild be watching the game live.

I thought we showed a lot of good signs last night.
That 2nd quarter...WTF? Lions waltzed out of the centre square too easily.
It was like the waters parted for them. A lot of lucky stuff there.

A few start to get back next weekend. Probably through the VFL.
