We miss JSOS and his smarts at half forward.
Our skills are horrible. Cripps and Doc high on that list.
They stopped Walsh that QTR and we had no-one else to step up.
Gray looking a match winner down the other end.

Suppose they likely to play off for a premiership and we're hoping to make the bottom end of the 8. Hence a class below. We ok against our own level but if a side like Port plays at their best we'll find it tough to win.

we wont make the 8 Jim. if there was any thought of that, we would need a system and a plan, and from what i have seen tonight, up against the better teams, this is what we lack the most. we will get 7-8 wins, snag one we shouldnt, and finish @10 - 11.

i just dont see any game plan out there, its like they forget to play when there is pressure on.

Pretty shabby half by us. Suprised we are still this close. Cripps and wietering having their worst games for a long time. Docherty is terrible so far today also. Jones very quiet, but doing ok. If those four can get into the game we might have some chance

Deflating kicking at goal and at targets - just plain embarrassing.

but we rebuilt, with top draft picks....

That's not our issue. Turning around a 20 years poor culture is. Recruiting ability won't fix that. That's a tough trick. Only coaches we have been remotely decent under this century have been Ratten and Teague, both given the task of turning around a rabble.

What is the plan to get the ball inside F50?

Anyone know?

There we go.

Handball up the wing.

It ends with Docherty kicking a snap blindly on his left foot.

No system at all.

Systems are a problem.

Just watching Port work their way out of trouble shows process, system which creates the cohesion

We are lucky to be so close but also unlucky with our missed opportunities

We are not playing with confidence

What system would you suggest for a team of butchers?

It's a grind and I still believe we can grind a win.

If a lot goes our way

Stop the dumb footy and it will give us a chance

We have been giving it to them

I was staggered we were close to favourites tonight

I’ll say this again, we are going nowhere

This rebuild is a bust

Losing culture and lack of player development will do that to you

you may be right, but i just dont know a way out of this, aside from start again

2 forwards doing the minimum possible makes it hard.

Aliir 4 marks.
McGovern 2
McKay 2

The effort is there.

From what we've seen so far he's just a mediocre coach.

fair call

The coach can’t kick the ball. If Williams, Newnes and Cripps kicked all or even some of their easy set shots we would be fine. Our kicking for goal is terrible.

In a close 11 point win against a side that just got smacked by 62 today.

Poor opposition just made us look better last week.

thats true, but the coach can develop a plan where the delivery into the forward line isnt like a drunk pissing

We are just playing dumb footy. Cripps once again trying to do too much with the ball, Newnes Williams Cas missing gettable shots, mids & fwds just looking all over the shop when we attack. Seriously when we are a chance to score they all shit themselves & want to give it to someone else.

Saad has done some great things, really saved us on a couple of occasions.

The scary thing is, we're still playing Murphy, Casboult, Curnow and Betts. And were still losing! We should be well and truly past those guys by now.

Dow and LoB a complete waste of a draft.

Shambles.

Yep Saad has been good. Fogerty again good. We will pull our new recruits back down to the Carlton level soon enough

Each week is different. Sides like Port play well they'll always be too good. We are generally ok with sides at the middle of the road.

When our skills are that bad often means we are not switched on as we should be. Been and issue for 20 years. Poor culture, don't want it badly enough. Motivation comes from within and we don't have that on a regular basis. a coach can encourage it but in the end it's up to the individual. Port play for premierships, we play for the paycheck.

Cripps and Docherty. Just no leadership. Butcher the bull every single time. McGovern is taking the absolute piss. And why oh why cannot we kick straight. This team is the worst in the completion, and yes worse than North as they have no players and we have no excuse.....
Be tough to write a worse post than this tonight.

The obvious improvement can come from:

Fisher > Betts
Martin > Kennedy
Silvagni > McGovern
DeKoning > Pittonet

Marchbank.. can't get on the ground
