First well done Murph especially first half, I wanted you out but you played well tonight. Backline were great - is it just me or had Jones been pushed further out from goals which allows him to back himself in his marking (his intercepts have been elite these passed 2 weeks)? Has the introduction of Parks assisted with this? Great game from Curnow, has his flaws but he just goes and goes. I thought Setters was okay, brilliant no, but will be in next week. He assist the midfield and I think him on one wing and Cotters on the other is a better balance. It looked tough, the ball a bar of soap, but we were the better side all night - with better kicking it could have been a 5/6 goal win. |

They have been giving decent long term contracts as well where a guy like Gibbons or Cottrell who to me are better players have to fight every step of the way Teague has to play SPS in the midfield. He was good last night but played the easy role in defence Play Philp( another with a long term deal) Stocker Honey Ramsay see what they have got Play Cottrell in the middle Honey on a wing Williams back will help Martin has been tried in the midfield but has failed so far. Give him a go there although don’t hold your breath Kennedy is average. He has been tried there and not come up with the goods either It’s easy to look good when you come on when everyone is rooted The bottom line is if you have 4 consistently good mids your going nowhere. I agree with your comments about our midfield group. Cripps not the same player since 2019, Walsh is more consistent, ED still going well but getting on in age. Who's next...... Been saying this for a long time we have a very average midfield group. I think Williams will settle in the role nicely. I'm really hoping that Stocker has the tank for the midfield, seems to have the appetite and grunt for the ball. Weak midfield group will always place extra pressure on our defence and make it harder for our forwards. |

Winning ugly sure beats losing pretty. Very happy to get the lessons while also taking the 4 points. Could only watch the first 3 quarters before heading out and thought for sure we would lose. Pleasantly surprised we won. Rapt in fact. That in itself is progress. Won’t be rushing to watch the replay lol. We must get better at converting territory dominance on to the scoreboard. The top sides will torch us when they get on top. The set shot misses really do my head in. In the 8 and on to a big clash next week. Let’s see where we are at. Coll Ess Rich and WCE all lost while we have won. Doesn’t happen very often... |

Hardly a difference between post game threads after a win or loss. Some people in here permanently negative and depressed. Serious PTSD going on. |

Glad to get the four points and return back to Melbourne. Conditions made it very hard hence good to get the win. Defence played well. Jones is A+ for taking marks and for his spoils but struggles with is short kicks. Would prefer he kick it long rather than trying to pin point a pass. Weitering once again so composed and really becoming an a grader. SPS good as well. I thought Betts looked dangerous around goal as did Gibbons (can't believe he rode that hit and came back on) Murphy best game for the year. Cottrell provided good run and defensive efforts. I thought we lacked some composure towards the end, 12 or 13 points up with only a few minutes left and we continued to play on from marks. I noticed Saad trying to slow the game up when he took a mark. To many players just took the mark and played on. Cripps did this when marking the ball on the HFF only to turn the ball over. We really need to learn when to take the game on and when to slow the game up. We had the game won and should have iced it a little bit earlier. Anyway take the 4 points and reload for next week. Hope Plowman and Jack pull up ok. It looked like a really taxing game for the players, hope they freshen up during the week. |

We won the contested possessions and only lost the clearances 46 to 39, hardly a smashing. Did you sleep through the last quarter? Our midfield generated 8 scoring shots to their 3 when the game was there to be won. How does that fit in with being smashed? How did you like Murphy’s tackles? Whomever selected Gibbons was a genius for looking in the state league comps don’t you think? |

In relation to Gibbons you need to tell the full story I know Andy Collins personally and he is a good judge of a footballer He was constantly talking up Gibbons in the press miffed that no AFL club wanted him So he was known to all and sundry SOS didn’t pick him originally He picked Goddard and Tom Bugg as rookie Guess where Bugg played first You guessed it GWS So don’t make out that SOS was a genius recruiter I reckon where we finish this year will be a true indicator of the messiahs recruiting legacy |
