Carlton at their best had great ruckmen

The last decent ruck was Matty Allan and we haven’t looked like it since

I am hopeful De Koning might be the ruckman that we desperately need

Bit rough on big Kreuze

Thought 25 points flattered the Tiges, but 21 points definitely was unders against the Pies, smashed in the last and should have been 6 goal loss
Setterfield and Williamson need to be dropped
Midfield beaten again, Williams OK - but not the messiah, at least yet
Forward entries when we had the momentum diabolical - just groundhog day
Thought H was very good, Saad I like, Gibbo did his job and Weiters OK
Need a few to stand up when the heat is on and provide composure and pressure our way

Mckay good game - no way, not from me, yes 4 goals, but really name a goal he got because of his work, not because of the delivery...oh right that'd be the times he fell over - when he has to work, dig deep and really work, nope not in the contest - I put him on a par with Murph's efforts...just.

Disagree entirely, I thought it was a good battle between him and Moore.

Murph put in a classic self preservation performance

True and a real midfield where you can rotate up to at least 6 genuine midfielders through the middle. Cripps, Walsh and now Williams is not enough. Our inability to get clearances places a lot of pressure on our defenders.

We are kidding ourselves, I have been banging on about this for years, we would have one of the worst midfield groups in the competition.

There are other poor ones, but it’s been a problem for a long time.

We are basically relying on superhuman performances from Walsh and Cripps to drag us over the line at the moment.

Forget those who say ruckmen are not important.

Every team needs 2 to play cut throat Finals...although with 23rd player easily rorted, then 2 ruckmen, good ones in the 23 are needed.

De Koning and Levi were looking to be the combo/
Pitto is break glass ruck/

Need to find a replacement for Levi incase Charlie doesn't become a dangerous KPF to allow Harry for the chop out for DeKoning

Sad night

Pros-
Walsh & Weitering are a pleasure to watch.
Pretty good first up effort from Williams. Hopefully he has improvement in him from here.
Gibbo magic!
Won the centre clearances. Adding Williams & Martin to our centre square rotations gave us more options.

Cons-
Lost tackle count and hard ball gets which suggests we didn’t get our hands dirty enough.
Saad is very one sided.
We’re still not getting enough from the likes of Setterfield, Dow, Fisher, Harry & SPS. We’re crying out for those guys to make the progression from ‘handy’ to consistently good AFL players. We’re not there yet.
Pitto has a crack but he was smashed in the ruck.
Charlie is not due back anytime soon

Moore clearly had a much better game than H.

H’s second efforts are rarely there, and many times his first efforts are sub-standard.

na, Moore easily beast him in the one on ones unless we hit him on the chest - why is it a beast over 203 tall cannot mark in a contest...cos he doesn't work hard, goes to ground instead. In a final if he plays like that, he will kill us but he'll go home saying I kicked 4! We've all played with that bloke and that bloke is not a great footballer.

I never rated Kreuzer as a ruckman

Lion hearted and gave his all

But never had the impact of a Fitzpatrick or Madden. Particularly in the middle.

Our centre clearance work has been deplorable over the first two rounds, so De Koning becomes even more important going forward.

When will the @#$%&! excuses end FFS??

Thought H contested in the pack against multiple tonight and wasn't outmarked which led to a few goals
Moore beat him a few times one on one, but that happens against a very good player
Howe didn't take huge numbers of intercept marks - and 4 goals for H makes it a good night for mine

Can’t say too much more than others have already said.
I really shouldn’t be so disappointed as I knew deep down all week we wouldn’t show up. That’s what the latest 20 years of garbage from this club has me expecting.
And boy did they not show up. Lost the disposals, contested possessions and tackles by 20. Completely pitiful
Unless this club stops accepting mediocrity or one good week or nearly, we’re in for another 20 years of shit.
That’s on the players and coaches and everyone with the four walls of the club.

I thought the battle between Harry and Moore was a highlight on the night. Thought Moore was very influential but Harry did his bit and 4 goals is a good return. We got plenty of problems but Harry is far from one of them

Good Fogarty think we have found one there gibbons H Saad

Ordinary Pitto Casboult a liability momentum killer
Disappointing the rest
Setters Dow SPS
Leadership none
0-2 as edges said for the 9th year in a row
Not hungry enough not tough enough
Didn’t expect to win because we never do in the first 2 rounds and ; years since we beat collingwood about 6 since we beat Richmond
Will be lucky to beat Freo next start and then of course even if we do look for the horror match on the Gold Coast in round 4 where we don’t turn up a usual

Willo Murphy Casboult need a holiday in the seconds
Don’t even bother talking things up you continue year upon year to let us down

I told my brother on the way to the game that Moore was the player I was most worried about tonight.

I don’t care that McKay finally packed his kicking boots (but apparently not his walking boots), Moore was my BOG tonight. He had 18 intercept possessions.

Eighteen.

That’s nearly more touches than Levi, willow and setters combined.

Hate to say it, cause I like him, but Teague is no good. Way too loose, way to easy for the opponent to score. It’s been a consistent theme now for a long time. I hope I’m wrong but I feel we’re going nowhere with him at the wheel

Hasn't matters who we've had at the wheel. Issues are deeper than coaching. He's has a long haul ahead to change the culture. All the class you bring in changes nothing unless that culture is changed. That can take forever. Sadly he's been a better coaching performer here than anyone bar Ratten since Parko.

Need a player to stand up and say enough is enough. Much like Chapman did at Geelong in 2007, when they were 2-3 and coming off a poor 2006. He stood up and gave it to them and they have never looked back.
We've been watching the same stuff from the playing group for at least the last 3 coaches. It's not the coach.

But I'm sure we'll sack him anyway.
