SPS is a bust...BIG TIME!!

Would play Kennedy or Cunners over SPS any day of the week

But he just doesn't get dropped...ever

Apart from the result, tonight's hit out against the best taught us a few things about where we are at.

The last quarter amplified what was missing.

Composure. Harry in the last typified the previous 3 quarters.

Missing players exposed our ability to run out games with the 7-8 replacements for our best 22.

Pretty good effort considering LOB couldn't stand up in the last. Dow isn't confident to run and carry. Setters needs to be switched on 120 minutes

Walsh for the Brownlow.
Cripps showed the way.

Pitto got beaten.

Think Walsh our best
Ed our second best
Cripps equal second best
Plow best defender..thought defence was good.
Oscar repaid our faith
Silvagni looked the goods before going off.

We’ll win more than we lose if we play like that every week. Still plenty of room for improvement, and losing sucks, but there was some encouraging signs tonight. We must back it up next week. Williams & Martin will be handy inclusions too.

Hopefully SOJ’s injury isn’t a long term one.

STOP BEING SO SENSIBLE!!!!!!

So many issues and yet we weren’t that far off.

Either Richmond are not that good or we’re not that bad.
If you read this thread without knowing the final score you'd assume a 10 goal minimum loss.

The midfield was smashed.

Yep. Pittonet was soundly beaten, but some of our stoppage setups allowed the tigers to run it out too easily. That’s not all Pittonet’s fault. Cripps is a beast, but he can be a sieve when it goes the other way out of the stoppage.

That sucked.

I skipped the first quarter and a half because I was afraid of the stand the mark rule. Turned off with a minute to go before half time.

Turned back on with about 5 to go in the third and was pleasantly surprised we were only a goal down. Thought we should run over the top of them, then remembered i follow Carlton.

There's half a dozen guys in that side that aren't up to it. Until we replace them this'll be standard fare for Carlton.

Centre square work has been a strength for us previously but we were smashed there tonight. 19 centre clearances to 10. We made Shai Bolton look like a superstar.
We were continually starting at half back. I thought Harry was rubbish. Oscar showed twice as much in 2 quarters. Kills him for workrate.
Murph was good when we have the ball but an absolute liability when the opposition have it. Credit to the backline. The ball was living there.
I thought Fogarty was OK. Clean and composed and uses the ball well as a rule. I don't get the criticism of Ed. He works harder than anyone in our team. Walsh? he's a gun.
I said before the game it was ridiculous playing LOB before Cuningham. I don't think I was wrong.

The stand rule is stupid.
Samo pinged for abandoning the mark, meanwhile Richmind player called 4 times "back 2 metres" doesn'r move and inch and crickets.
Some other Richmond guy strolled around on the mark like he'd lost his contacts, nothing.

Harry needs to take his time. Why play on from 5m out???

What's the point of the deliberate behind rule if you can simply stroll across under minimal pressure?

Martin is a great player, but does he ever get some leeway with his throat chops.

Lynch has a punchable head.

Casboult could get hit over the head with a shovel and it'd be play on.

Walsh is a gun.

Good summary.

The back 2 metres thing was weird, under the old rules that's 50

I thought we did well overall and did a lot of the little things previously missing from our performances. The last few minutes were disappointing and not indicative IMO.

But composure and inability to covert let us down, again.

Harry made a mess of things far too often.

I thought Docherty and SPS were pretty average.

Good to see Cripps back in form and enjoyed Saad's game.

Let's just hope Jack's injury isn't too bad....

Same old, same old. It always ends up being an approximately 4 goal loss. Didn’t have high hopes coming in but no such thing as an honourable loss.
Walsh was fantastic. Best on for us. Thought Cripps and Ed chipped in in the middle too. We missed Williams as the fourth midfielder but he’s only got himself to blame.
Thought Weiters, Saad and Doc were good down back. Jones was too inconsistent.
H let himself and the team down with his goal kicking or lack of it. Should have kicked 4.
Disappointing another injury for JSOS.
Liked Fog, Newnes and Gibbo all had a real crack.
Dow ok - far from our worst
O had a crack and did more than we could have hoped for
Murph very disappointing. He’s probably the one bloke that I most want the ball in his hand because he makes things happen. But you need to pressure and stick tackles. Did neither and it really let us down tonight.
Must beat the Pies next week. No excuses

One run of 13 shots at goal gave us 2.11. We missed too many. Dow could have put us in front with less then 5 min left. Composure in tight finishes still an issue
THIS

Some basic errors gifted them goals and we did not take our chances... That was the difference in the end.

Play like we did and it will be a good season. Iron out some of the errors and it will be a cracker....

BTW, I didn't realise Saad's hands were that good

Go Blues!

Thought it was overall pretty positive actually, felt more like a 12 point game as they said on TV.

Fogarty did some nice things & Saad showed why we went after him. How much better do we look with his run??

Hate to say it but I just had a feeling O'Brien was going to drop that mark in the centre...that sucked.

Good players to come back in next week & plenty to build on.

I thought Fogarty looked good in his first match. Saad is a very good addition with his run and carry and his closing speed.
Oscar took his chance and will play again next week.
Jack unlucky.
Levi looked underdone and off the pace.
Harry had some presence but not enough composure.
I would have liked to see a few more small forwards at his feet locking the ball in.
Walsh brilliant.
Backline for the most part very good considering how many inside 50ies they had.

Favourite son and all that but so soft and all the opposition know it. Good sides can carry players like that, we are not a good side, yet.

Some tackling attempts from Murphy and Docherty cost us and lack of composure from Fisher and McKay up forward.

With Zac Williams in next week, nothing less than a win should be accepted.

Saad was brilliant and Fogarty , is absolute crap , Fogarty had no composure

SPS should be dropped immediately and Teague should announce it in his press conference and O’Brien should never ever , I mean ever play for us again !! Terrible

I liked Fogarty’s game. Thought SPS was ok. Just ok, but certainly not as bad as you say.
O’Brien... yep, didn’t play well. Didn’t grab his opportunity. Wouldn’t completely put a line through him yet, but he’ll need to come back with some more confidence and get more involved or others will go past him real fast.
