Haven't seen any footage except the front on angle.
Does he get him in the head or chest...??
Looked like an old fashioned shirt front..
Whole body goes back, not just the head....
Anyway, from the front angle that was my first reaction and I haven't seen other views??
(not just my one-eyed view either )

Carlton will challenge the verdict to Williams.

Argue Medium to Low Impact.

I didn't like it when Ablett got off twice with his feet leaving the ground with an elbow raised into the neck and to the head, but he got off.

Williams had his arm tucked in.

Good luck.

Good news, AFL should be asking St Kilda as to why they waited till after the game to concussion test the player.

Good point ... after he put his head down over the ball to win another 8 clearances.

I don't like players jumping off the ground to bump or whatever, but the AFL set a precedence with Ablett imo

He is an idiot for doing it but that suspension and medium impact ruling is bullshit.

Shocked to be sitting here...

Can someone also explain to me please how we have this home game taken off us and given to Richmond?

So appealing it didn't risk an extra week?
Wasn't the original one with early plea?

"potential to cause injury"

POTENTIAL doesn't have anything to do with the ACTUAL impact.

And the anti Carlton QC Gleesen from the AFL is allowed to argue this, and take this line, and win it?
Its a kangaroo court.

We use to have QC's representing our players. ANYONE KNOW WHO WAS REPORESENTING wILLIAMS?

Its an easy case to argue against Gleesen's potential argument.

Gleesen did the same against Prespakis' Appeal, when no one was injured. This same bloke who let off a Crows player on Appeal who had a 3 week suspension and injured a player who will not play for longer than 3 weeks. Its wrong on every front.

Gleesen, Umpire 22, Michael Christian, Robinson are Carlton enemies No.1

Disgrace that Carlton let Gleesen get his way. Disgrace. I smell a rat.

We'll take the Williams decision but these clowns better be consistent in 2021 ....

If Player X jumps and hits Player Y in the head

AND

Player Y goes down but plays the rest of the game

AND

Player Y passes a concussion test

THEN

Player X gets outed for 1 week (minimum)

We'll see how long this lasts.

Next one will be talked down as accidental and a fine or no case to answer

Errrr.... Ok.... So the actual impact doesn't matter, it had the 'potential' to be serious..... Mmm... So every tackle has that potential, hell every kick off the ground...
This is sooo weird to adjudicate that it will get dropped almost instantly...
Stiff...stupid.. Move on...

We've been dudded again: a seasonal execution of Carlton player.

We have become accustomed to that sort of unprecedented behaviour from the AFL Commission for the past 20 years, despite having paid the harshest penalties ever handed out in 2002, and we have paid overs with those penalties. Now we are debt free to the AFL, so we expect some reprieve.

Nevertheless the executioner continues to demand their pound of flesh, but they also want blood. The bleeding will stop one day from the hands of the over zealous, possible corrupted AFL Commission.

Lets get on with the game and the evolution of a Premiership team. Hopefully the players step up and they open our window this year, starting against the Tigers, as the underdogs.

Blues should be calm, cool, and breathing a bit of fire, not for the Williams punishment but to make amends for the last 2 years' let downs, and take our learnings from that to this next game.

Can the underdog win? Lets discuss that.

Our backline is good, Richmond's is very good. I think their intercept marking is top notch, so no bombing it in.
They can go end to end with relative ease, and set up their forwards better than any other side. If they don't mark down back then Short and co swoop in.
If we can seriously pressure their defenders we're in with a chance, otherwise it's gonna be a long night unfortunately.

As long as the cauliflower are consistent - potential to cause injury is now the threshold. I get the feeling this is going to go the way of the Todd Curley rule but.

You need to make them accountable. Don't let them dictate from half back and please, please, please don't try and play the extra loose back and give them the extra player, else - game over.

So at this stage, Charlie, Marchbank, TDK, Kemp, Newman and Williams are all out.

Betts, Levi, Weiters, Harry, Gov, Newnes are all listed as test.

We'd want to hope Weiters, Harry, and at least one of Levi or Gov get up.

Richmond are missing pretty much no one of course
