Charlie is earmarked to play in the 2nd half of the season which impies after round 11.

IIRC 10 weeks = LTI

Why not declare Charlie as our LTI and take Oscar for insurance and still have the spot open for midyear draft.

If its salary cap related then I'm sure that can be rejigged to make that scenario work, assuming 10 weeks = LTI

McDonald has been signed on as a Rookie, as expected

Always liked Oscar as a DFA. He provides some depth at both ends of the field.

Does this close out all our list spots now?

Good choice with Oscar McDonald selected.
He's passed the test over the preseason and looked ok in the last game.

Gives us depth in the KPD area...and possibly KPF. After Weiters and Jones there's new boy Parks, who I really like, a lot, and despite looking taller than 193cm is not big enough for gorillas, but neither is Oscar but Oscar is 196cm.

Not known for forward craft. He did kick a couple last week, but at least he can get up high enough to bring the ball down if needed in KPF. Prefer Harry and Charlie as our 2 KPF's, obviously, then Levi because he can clunk them and if close enough to goal, can kick them....these days.

Hopefully there is no player on LTI list in midseason and Kemp and Curnow come back fit and firing, but if something goes wrong and we have an LTI we can then have another shot at mid year draft.

Not a hugely inspiring selection, but better than giving Moore another shot.

I really hope nobody rips it up in the state leagues in the first half of the year.

It was never meant to be an inspiring selection, but given our talls' continued injury concerns (plus the baffling delisting of our entire KPD depth) it's a logical one.

Keogh should be able to fill you in after it happens.

Baffling?

Neither of Macreadie or Silvagni were going to cut it & the guys in that group are capable of a reshuffle if Marchbank or Plowman are asked to play taller... and that’s before any assessment of what was going to be available through the draft or free agency.

Yes, baffling.

If Weitering or Jones went down, we had nothing left. Marchbank is never fit, Plowman isn't remotely a KPD and we continually have to occupy Casboult with filling injury holes in the ruck and forwardline.

Needed some KP backup and in Oscar we found it. From here, who knows but he has the opportunity and club has some form of depth it needs.

You won't get any argument from me re Plowman's suitability to a key post... and yet, he was a better option than Macreadie, Goddard or Ben Silvagni. If they are retained, we would still have nothing left should Jones or Weitering go down. The only way to change that situation is to create some vacancies.

This next generation free hits is a rort.

99.9% of those selected would be playing nothing else but Aussie rules, especially the indigenous players from Aussie rule states.

Quayner for example ... has no interest in any other sport.

I hope carlton FC wake up to this rort ... and take advantage of it too.
