https://www.foxsports.com.au/afl/afl-trade-news-2021-trades-chat-with-tom-morris-live-chat-patrick-cripps-marcus-bontempelli-contracts-jack-riewoldt/news-story/fde4217df22b923fe0e8fbf16c8b52a1 On Cripps Quote: Superstar free agents Patrick Cripps and Marcus Bontempelli are now off the market, according to rival clubs. Foxfooty.com.au understands Carlton is on the verge of locking Cripps into a new deal – likely four years - that will keep West Coast at bay, while Bontempelli won’t be leaving Whitten Oval. On Cerra The rumour around the Collegians is that Cerra has bought a house in Carlton. Tom Morris hadn't heard that rumour. Interesting, but its only a rumour by nobody known as a good source. Point is, there's quality mids out there wanting to come home to Melbourne, or move clubs within Melbourne, and its Austin's job to be talking to their management. If we had 2 first rounders last year, rumour was we had a chance to get Oliver to Carlton. Pick 8 for Saad didn't help the cause. No doubt Merrett is on Austin's radar. Would be remiss of him if he wasn't. |

Looking at the draft we did well in the long run. Dow was good in his first game for Carlton. He's played plenty of good ganes before he turned 20yo. Dow got moved to HF to make way for Teagues preference to play older players in the coal face for wins not development. Just goes to show with Coffield, most kids take time, and take their opportunity when it comes. Ive got a good feeling about Dow. I would not be adverse to his selection in our best 22 this week, and he isn't 21 yet. Players we could of selected instead of Dow assuming that they made up their mind about O’Brien Luke Davies-Uniacke Adam Ceres Jaidyn Stephenson Hunter Clarke Aaron Naughton Players we could of picked if we assume that they were going to trade pick 28 for Kennedy Darcy Fogarty Jarred Brandon Zac Bailey Jack Higgins Oscar Allen Tim Kelly Liam Ryan Players we could of got with pick 28 Sam Taylor Bailey Frisch Brayden Ainsworth Tom McCartin Harrison Petty Charlie Ballard Jack Petruccelle James Worpel Kane Farrell Bryan Miers SOS hopefully got DeKoning right let’s hope he is injury free and a decent crack at it And people think Teague is the main problem Ceres? I guess you worked for the Hawks who called out Luke Franklin instead of Lance Franklin. Yeah, um. Both Dow and Kennedy would have been off the board if we didn't recruit them using our picks. The quality players on your hindsight list aren't responsible for our game plan and development. Richmond's role players aren't better than Cuningham. Kelly has already walked out on Geelong because he's from WA and has a young family. |

It doesn't matter if we step on toes, get the BEST in player development and develop the kids. And get more kids. Enough with the imports. Unless they come cheap. |

But Trev, he is right. You are showing a high degree of hindsight bias & you are also being very selective. Plenty of good young players have also walked through the doors since we started this painful rebuild. Having said that, still time for Dow (who I personally like) and O'Brien if they're good enough. How old are they? 21? By Christ Trev, your old teammate Wayne Johnston didn't even debut till he was 21! He turned out alright didn't he? On that note, what about your lovechild McAdam - what was he when he cracked that debut? 30 odd? |

Selective Well thats a nice choice of words I can interpret if as the guys we missed on It’s in blue and white I can tell 99 % certainty O’Brien will be delisted at the end of the season SOS totally [REDACTED] up pick 10 What young blokes have walked in the door ? Name them Johnston was a late bloomer Tried out at Carlton went back to Prahan What he always had was passion and effort Go through the current list and tell me which ones have that Dow explosive pace that’s just about it Terrible kick poor game awareness He is contracted till 2022 See what happens in the next 35 games for him because we won’t play finals in 2021 We are a results based industry Why are we crap after 5.5 years of a rebuild It’s List Management |

Oh McAdam The guy we got for nothing Killed it at the draft camp in most key areas as a kid Somehow overlooked shit happens Goes back to Halls Creek At the age of 21 off his own bat gets an apprenticeship in Adelaide and plays for Sturt as a small forward where he stars Gets a crack at it in 2020 where he more than holds his own Dropped 2 weeks ago gets back in and plays a ripper against the the Eagles Is 23 rd in The Coleman averaging 2 goals a game not bad for a small forward in a below average side His history suggested the perfect pedigree for a late bloomer We passed him up for the ultimate cameo player and 2 picks in the 20s plus $700000 a year for 5 years of salary cap space Only a dumb arse would manufacture this He was granted the job by the board Argument over dude |

Turns 26 next month and is too inconsistent to retain a spot in the 15th placed team. McAdam the messiah. |

We can agree to disagree on many things BV but that’s a ridiculous thing to say given the events of the last few years How much of our lack of improvement is due to poor List Management? |
