We got Williams, Martin, Saad and Fogarty and gave up pick 8.

Added some quality to the list their wages are a little high but not astronomical. B grade players like Williams and Martin should be in the vincinity of $550-700k we are payiung them $750k on average so dont think we are over paying. Their output suggests we definitely are but they're just following the ebbs and flows of the rest of the team. They didnt come to the club as leaders but added talent to the list.

The only disappointing aspect is that we have yet again failed to add a bonafide midfielder which Williams was intended to do. Thats pushed him to half back and pushed Docherty out of his preferred position.

Williams recruitment is very tedious at this stage but still early doors to make any definite conclusions.

Oh no - not this again.
I'm exhausted.

Imagine what we would have got, if we didn't throw pick 8 out the door for all 4 players, including the previous draft that Martin came to us ... :banghead:

The Williams and Martin recruitment decisions are looking good now.
Who signed off on these calls?

That would be the list manager and ultimately our head of football Brad Lloyd. Quite a resume Brad has built at Carlton:
- ticked off on the McGovern 5x800k contract in 2018
- recommended to the board, along with Liddle and MLG, that Teague be appointed as senior coach in 2019
- approved the Martin big $ contract in 2019
- did not change over even one assistant at the end of 2020 when it was obvious to all that change was needed. All the while Sydney got Pyke, Melbourne got Choco and Yze, even GC got Shaw who is known as a strong developer of youth
- approved Williams big $ contract in 2020
- brings in Woosha as a zoom mentor in 2021

Not to mention his SEN interview 2-3 weeks ago where he was completely lost for answers as to why we are going so badly. He’s paid to deliver these answers.

He must have forgot to get his update from baldy before the interview. :garthp:

Wallsy is correct

Never mind cryptocurrencies plummeting, the clubs stocks have taken an absolute hammering the past couple of weeks.

It looks like being a slow and steady build if we are lucky!

Gee this review cannot come quick enough.

The reviewing to begin in 2 weeks apparently, should we lose the next 2games , there’ll be fireworks, and extreme pressure for remedial plans and direct action.

I certainly would make a pitch for him in some capacity

He is a genius

Geelong has been great because they have a great culture and systems. Their players are drilled and make ordinary players into good players. It is the difference between great and ordinary clubs. Haven’t relied on early draft picks to build sustained success. Player and game development is always more important than recruiting. Although not saying recruiting is not an important aspect of success.

Disagree entirely

Explain Henderson.

Bit harsh on Waite. Wallsy just can't let it go.

He always has a crack when Matthew Pavlich is involved- if we could play Pavlich this Sunday against Adelaide he’ll kick 8 goals for sure.

Being watching FC and OTC give it to Carlton this week and justifiable so
Was talking to a mate in the know about Shai Bolton
Was told to go away and do extra sessions with a PT from the army
If you want to play midfield get fit
Williams Martin McGovern and the rest need this over the preseason

If you agree with David King then you agree that picking up Martin and Williams was not the issue - they didn't cost a first round pick. The only recruitment decision he criticized was the use of a first round pick on Saad and Saad hasn't been our worst player by a long shot.

He's having a go at Austin who blinked when he didn't have to hand over Pick 8. Saad was already out the door.

I agree Saad was worth a pick 8, but we didn't need to part with it for a player who was out of contract and wanted The Blues, and stated he would go to PSD if he had to.

I am still seething about that ... and the fact Austin has done jack shit to even out that stupid loss. I'm still waiting for something spectacular from Austin ... and if he doesn't perform, he's another failed List Manager under Liddle's leadership.

All these people need time . Austin got us Carrol.

Modus Operandi was to improve the quality and age gap of the squad- Saad, Williams, Martin and Fogarty have done that.

He’s played one good game at vfl level. Anything else is speculation.
