I'm saying him and Ed both have similar value and limitations as players (as far as how effective they are offensively and disposal by foot) which is only highlighted by the 6-6-6 changes.

I don't think you can play both in the same side. Numerous coaches have been trying to re-deploy Ed in different roles unsuccessfully since Ratten. Hewett's best value is by far as a lockdown player on the opposition's best mid - I'd hope we're not paying that sort of money for us to experiment with him as a defensive forward.

I see some cred in your point of view.

I really like Hewett and see him as a good kick and a great role player who, like Ed, can shut down an opponent and accumulate disposals...a better kick than Ed too.

Its good to add some toughness on our list as long as we don't overpay. Sydney have 17 players out of contract, and are struggling to offer decent contracts to those who deserve them.

Not surprised.

Newnes has served us well, but dropped off a bit this year.

Parks first game was really good with his closing speed. I didn't see the marking power he was recruited for in the seniors. He took good marks in the VFL. Maybe he's a good VFL player.

Boyd...the bloody goal post injury and covid didn't give him a chance to earn a spot on the list for 2022.

He brings some good attributes absolutely, and definitely some ones we lack. I just hope that it signifies whoever in charge sitting down with Ed Curnow and saying that he's seen as depth for next year.

If we delisted Boyd then we should never be allowed to pick anyone in a mid-season draft again.

I can't remember which specific game it was - but he had one where he was truly horrendous. Like, not even suburban standard. But before that he'd shown enough that he had weapons to work with.

Why’s that?

The purpose of the mid-season draft is to fill short term needs. You don’t get to pick unless you’ve got an unexpected vacancy on the list - in our case, season ending injuries. The season is over.

Boyd opted to accept a six month contract. That time is up.

Mmmmm....Not sure he deserved 2. Nonetheless if that is what the market dictates, so be it

Have always thought Parks should have been given a longer go as a better long term prospect than Williamson who has had more than one bad game and many what one could call average games.

Two years in a row we've done it. Just don't fill the spot

Parks was pretty ordinary.

The game he got done was the GWS game first time around from memory.

I think he got Finlayson as an opponent and he scored a few on him early and he never recovered.

Herein lies the issue though. What did Parks shoe aside from a bit of grunt? I remember a couple of tough tackles but not a lot else from him.

He started well against Freo. Did struggle a lot after that.

Why did we recruit Boyd?

Not sure but his vfl form was good until he got injured and then he didn't play a lot after that and we didn't see him at afl level.

We had half a list inured there in the middle of the year so we had to get someone.

Wouldn't be surprised if we kept LOB.
Every team I muck around with shows we need a bonafide wingmen to rely on week in week out.
Sure flexibility is good to see from coach and player, but a settled team is gold imo.
LOB's running capacity and ability to hit long targets when NOT under pressure are valuable tools.

Who else for the wings other than Walsh (I want in the middle) and Ed (who turns 33 next year)?
I dream that Philp, Cuningham could have the engines to play the role, other than that I dream it may be Carrol but he seems more like an inside outside mid.

Cerra? Where does he play if Walsh Cripps is teaming up with Hewett, (a fit and determined) Williams? Wing-midfield mixing it with the running machine Walsh?

Of those 3 mentioned by Sydney, only Newnes would be making a space on the seniors list.

Newnes, Murphy, Casboult are the only 3 off the list at this stage.
Eddie and Boyd are off the rookie list.

If we get Cerra and Hewett, we still need to make 3 selections at the draft, so 2 more deleistings/ trades.

I can't see Cottrell or Owies moving onto the senior list for moving's sake, when we can keep them as rookies for another year.

I think Gibbons is in the firing line, and SPS would be the sweetener in the Cerra deal, despite thinking pick 6 and a future 3rd round max.
