seven starting 22 players is too much we can handle 2 or maybe 3 but not 30% of starting 22 talent.

Still a train wreck this list does in some way go to why we are 2-3 after 5 rounds but doesn’t of course excuse lack of effort against Collingwood and Port and terrible execution and doesn’t absolve those on the playing list who are healthy continually giving us inept performances.

Its pretty obvious most were trying and there were players who were not giving their all in the Port game and pies game, otherwise we wouldn't have had all those inside 50's and shots at goal.

Kicking is another story.

Put Charlie, Martin, Silvagni and Fisher back in our forwardline and rhey may produce more goals

Newman instead of Williamson is a god send

De Koning in the ruck is going to give us another 10% going our way.

Wont be back for the Bombers game, but might be back for Bulldogs and onwards.

Fingers crossed no more injuries to key players; makes a difference.

And that's our plot in a nutshell.

Not sure about evidence of trying 28 points absolutely flattered us have a look at the uncontested possessions that Port got and uncontested marks of port in the game is evidence of a team being completely out worked in terms of effort .

Given we were chasing bums all day would have thought tackle count may have been much higher

Four, at most.

Newman, Silvagni, Charlie, Martin.

None of the others have claimed a spot.

Fisher is easily best 22 and I'd play De Koning before Pittonet as well.

So is Marcbank - we bought him to the club as a starting 22 talent. We miss his intercept marking and helping out as third man.

Fisher >>>Murphy

EXPECT to see some familiar faces - and some relatively fresh ones - back in action this weekend.

Carlton is set to welcome back Jack Carroll, Tom De Koning, Nic Newman and Luke Parks to some form of football this Sunday.

With both AFL and VFL sides to take on Essendon* this week, Director of High Performance Andrew Russell confirmed that the quartet would be available for selection this coming weekend.

It’ll be a long time coming for both De Koning and Newman, with the duo to play their first games of the season. In Newman’s case, it will be his first in nearly 12 months.

“Nic Newman, De Koning, ‘Parksy’ and Jack Carroll all trained today. They’ll train fully on Thursday,” Russell said.

Only Parks is a possibility...unless they've been building DeKoning to jump over Philips, coz Philips will be doing that over Pittonet this week.

If we can win the ruck, Dow is worth considering. If not, no hope for him till he gets his timing/form right.

Injury news: Curnow on track for 2021 return

An update on the fitness of Charlie Curnow

CHARLIE Curnow continues to make important inroads in his return from a knee injury.

Carlton Director of High Performance Andrew Russell provided a clear update on the health of the forward, who has ramped up his recovery in recent weeks.

A series of knee injuries have prevented Curnow from gracing the football field since the middle of 2019.

Russell said that the Blues would continue to monitor Curnow’s progress in a conservative manner.

He revealed that Curnow had begun to get involved on the track, having returned to running and partaking in kicking alongside his teammates.

“Charlie’s going well. He’s exactly where we expected him to be,” Russell said.

“He’s running, he’s doing agility work and he’s kicking the footy.

“He’s not quite into training yet with the group, but he’s progressing well.”

Russell said that Curnow was on track to return to football in the second half of the 2021 season.

He maintained that the Blues’ staff would determine the best course for Curnow’s long-term health.

“We’ll be guided by Charlie’s body, how he recovers from training sessions and how it adapts from week-to-week as to how quickly we can progress him,” Russell said.

“If all goes well, we’ll have him available later in the season.”

Its coming together.

He is being rebuilt.

We will have our 3 headed monster in the 2nd half of the year.

Jack's shoulder has recovered well from the surgery apparently. Will be a test for this week. Would love to see him in.

So "if all doesn't go well" (which it more often than not, doesn't), it's another full season lost.

I'm standing by my prediction that we won't see him this year, if at all.

You may be right , and even if Charlie Curnow were able to get a game in the 2nd half of the season , one wouldn’t expect too much , it would be a preparation and foundation work for 2022 season.

Its always been Gov, but SOS has overtaken him.

An inform Gov can be very damaging.

Like always it does depend on supply.
