No I would think Collingwood v Melbourne.

We have played Collingwood, Essendon** and Richmond 6 times but pies v dee's would be 7 or 8
1926
1939
1955
1956
1958
1960
1964

That's 7, don't know of any more frequent pairing.

Does anyone recall attending the Carlton v Collingwood game at VFL park circa 1977 when we lost by 102 points?
Unfortunately I do :donk:

Go Blues! Just win today!

Yes I was there with 2 pie supporting mates giving me heaps all game. Probably the hardest day at the footy I have ever experienced.
CFC8795 Thanks for the memories ...NOT!

.....And with that he reaches his ton (of posts) on his 11th anniversary of membership of TC. The Geoff Boycott of posters

Yep convinced dad to drive us out to Waverley - traffic was horrendous we didn’t end up getting into the ground till 1/4 time, dad cursing all the time, and ended up leaving at 3/4 time.

I remember my Dad taking my brothers and me. It was packed. We sat right up the back. We left well before the end. One of our first games we went to.

On a brighter note, my first Grand Final was 1981 against Collingwood. What a win!

This is off topic.

We're celebrating the 1970 Grand Final at today's game, and because I had nothing better to do I wondered what our team would look like if we sent out the same playing numbers today as were worn in the 1970 Grand Final. Same numbers, same positions, just our current list. Here's that team:

FB: 21 JACK MARTIN - 3 MARC MURPHY - 30 CHARLIE CURNOW
HB: 11 MITCH MCGOVERN - 43 WILL SETTERFIELD - 35 ED CURNOW
C: 6 KADE SIMPSON - 34 SAM PHILP - 15 SAM DOCHERTY
HF: 17 BRODIE KEMP - 42 vacant - 5 SAM PETREVSKI-SETON
F: 28 DAVID CUNNINGHAM - 25 ZAC FISHER - 13 LIAM STOCKER
Foll: 2 PADDY DOW - 1 JACK SILVAGNI - 10 HARRY MCKAY
Res: 22 CALEB MARCHBANK - 7 MATTHEW KENNEDY

This supposes that everyone was fit and available to play, of course. No-one currently wears the 42 of Robert Walls and the bench is two players less than today.

If you were then allowed to pick three players to fill the empty spots (from the lowest jumper numbers available) and allowed to re-jig the side to play to their strengths... it's a decent side.

FB: SIMPSON - MARCHBANK - STOCKER
HB: O'BRIEN - MCGOVERN - DOCHERTY
C: MURPHY - E. CURNOW - PETREVSKI-SETON
HF: MARTIN - C. CURNOW - J. SILVAGNI
F: CUNNINGHAM - MCKAY - FISHER
Foll: KREUZER - DOW - CRIPPS
Res: KENNEDY - KEMP - SETTERFIELD - PHILP

Anyways... that's how I've spent my Sunday morning waiting for this afternoon's game...
