Not sure I would have put Johnno at #1

Should be higher.

Wow! looking thru this list I always thought number 7 was a premier number...I mean Johnston and Ratten...but since then it has been dismal pickings.

I would prefer if players these days start off wearing jumper 52, 53, 54 etc until they have played a few seasons and proven they are bona fide players and then they get the right to wear number 7. Sounds harsh I know, but really the one that really grates on me is ....why should McGovern wear Bruce Doull's old number 11...can you give McGovern jumper 59 or jumper 82 or something until he plays more than 3 games in a season? And plays those games like he really wants to impact..

Anyway that is enough of my crazy rant.

My top 5 FOR the glorious number 7

1- WAYNE JOHNSTON....WOW!
2 - Brett Ratten
3- Herb Turner - 1944-49 - dual premiership player 1945-47
4- Jack Carney
5- Joe Kelly - 1926-34

I like your idea tap. I'm just thinking out aloud:

Some players, like Judd, warrant the 'form' jumper from the outset.

The numbers should hold more value and something to work towards, like they do to get their name on a locker.
When does a players form warrant a Legend's number? BnF? Top 5 BnF 3 years running? Victorian selection...hang on...gets tricky

Offering a prized number should be like offering captaincy to come over.

McGovern could be 111.
