They BBQ'd us last time and they should win this as well but hopefully we are better organised.

At least this is at the MCG, Saints hardly play there.
Hopefully they have a hard tough game tonight.

If McKay has a good game in the bullants tomorrow - bugger it, pick him! Play him for the remainder of the season.

We've finished our games against the 'Big Boys' ala Sydney, Hawks etc etc. We now have Saints, Demons, Brisbane and Essendon*. Play the kids!

We were pretty flat that game IMO. Play like we have the past month and we will win.

this is a game that will tell us more than the last few weeks
they are a much improved, hungry and set up for future success
we need to match them for intensity to start off with, then finish them off
these are the games we need to win before we start thinking about the top teams and how close we come
we need to match the teams that are just outside the eight first because we don't really know how serious the top teams take us to begin with

We struggle to match their run, need to monster them in midfield like we did last year.

What usually follows 3 honorable losses is a 10 goal plus flogging

that is not untrue- historically over the last 10 years we have beaten sides when we should not have and lost the games when we should have won

The way Bolton was talking after the game, I wouldn't be banking on Murphy for a while.

We were up before we played them last time. 50K plus crowd were our supporters on the hopeful up and up, not theirs. They pantsed us for centre clearances, pace, spread, overlap, kicking, and I50 marking. Whoever thought Tim Membrey could play before that game. 34 of his 43 career goals this year. Jack Stevens looked like Chris Judd.

MCG a different story. Are we sure the G still suits us? Must be a better chance there.
Will be there as usual
Go blues

I watched the first half and read the recap of the second and it seems McKay had a quiet one. Shame. Jones was lively in the first half without hitting the scoreboard much. Christian wasn't bad but didn't bang the door down either. No standouts from the half I saw.

Jack Steven tore us apart out of the middle all day last time, Curnow couldn't get a hand on him and Membrey was too mobile in the forward line.

Might be worth giving Kerridge first crack at him this time.

We owe them for derailing our season a few months ago!

Last time we played them, we had won 6 of the previous 7 matches. This time, we go in on a 7 game losing streak (our last win was the week before we played them last time).
Last time we played them, their form was decidedly patchy and they had just been smashed by 90-odd points by Adelaide. This time, they have won something like 5 of their past 6 matches.
Last time, both captains were out. This time, their captain will be playing.

Notwithstanding all of that, I'm looking forward to this match as a good guide to where we are at.
I think the Saints are a year or two ahead of us in their development. (Our list appears older but we will lose quite a few years of experience before we make our real charge towards the top....)
If we are to maintain the progress we believe we have made this year, we should be competitive with them and the result should be within a couple of goals at worst. This would validate our early season streak and our recent form against the top teams.
We should end up winning around 8-10 matches for the year.

I would love to see McKay get a run and Jakcsh get another shot but I don't think either deserve it this week after their performance yesterday.
