A few of my mates reckon that Craig is set to replace Icke... no idea how accurate that is though!

I hear Mark Harvey might be willing to leave the Dockers.

Losing Icke on the eve of trade week is not ideal.

Issues with Ratts they say? I wonder if Icke did not share the same view of Ratts that others on the Board do.

Done deal. Icke out, Craig in:

FORMER Adelaide coach Neil Craig looks set to be Carlton's football manager in a shock Blues move that forces Steven Icke out.

Steven Icke: Shocked at being sacked
carltonfc.com.au

Icke is a shock sacking from the Blues to make way for Craig.

Icke is understood to have fallen out with Blues coach Brett Ratten who won a new two-year appointment after his finals series early this month.

Icke is believed to have been shocked with Carlton's decision when told of his dismissal on Thursday of AFL grand final week as the Blues continued a savage review of their football operations.

Craig is expected to be confirmed as football manager at a media conference on Thursday as the AFL industry follows latest grand final teams selection news.

Icke appears a casualty of Ratten's plans for the next two seasons.

Icke's finest strength is his list management that this season retained the vital playing services of star midfielder Marc Murphy and classy forwards Andrew Walker and Jeff Garlett and on-ballers Andrew Carrazzo and Heath Scotland.

Icke was also a significant factor in the Blues winning the fierce race this time four years ago to win sensational on-baller Chris Judd.

More to come

Wow. Sakc Ikce?

Time for the old Pratt philosophy to 'get the best, not the best available' to kick in. This means its time to make those seen as suitable an offer they cant refuse...

Neil Craig????

As much as I hate to say it Neil Craig is in a similar position to Neil Balme who after a stretch as a Melbourne Senior Coach took on the Geelong Football managar's position with some degree of success you'll have to say.

From my understanding I thought Neil Craig's strengths were in sports science and physical conditioning - but having said that bringing in his years of Senior Coaching experience would be a good fit for Football Manager's position - lets see how it pans out.

Icke wasnt a significant factor in getting Juddy to the Blues.......Greg Swann was the man. Source = straight from the Judd family

Stephen is a great fella......however, if we do replace him with Neil Craig, i have no doubt we will be tougher and more experienced as a result.

On a personal level it is always tough decision to sack someone. However, on a professional level, it is a much clearer cut.

It'd be a shame if it were true that there was tension and the split occurred under negative circumstances. Stephen has done a lot for the club since Dick brought him on board, and you would have to assume he's played a pretty major part in our continued improvement in becoming a force again.

So Stephen, we thank you

Two articles with quite different slants.Would be interesting to know whether Icke went of his own accord, or was shown the door.

Sounds like the door in this instance - he might be carrying the can for the Brock McLean debacle.
