Wouldn't some of the Ratts haters on TC love to have Malthouse sitting above him looking over his shoulder. One 1 pt loss and they would be calling for him to take over. Not a happy situation to be in. The Media would love it but I couldn't see it helping the club.

Regards Cazzesman

AFAIC Malthouse is of no value to Carlton in any way, shape or form. Ratts is our coach for the next 2 years.....Curly??? our football manager and Swann our CEO. We need to keep headhunting the best emerging coaches in the AFL as assistants/innovators.

Could Malthouse be announced as replacing Icke?
Malthouse is now the past - let's look to the future

No way would i want m'house. He is coach and has never been a footy mngr. And the senior coach needs to be absolutely in charge. Ratts is head coach for the next 2 yrs and doesn't need a sour know all looking over his shoulder. Find someone young who is great at that job, not someone who has had a long career in another job and is now clapped put. Having an ex coach overseeing the senior coach hasn't worked at Melb, H'thorn (Schwab/Parko), Freeo, (Danier/ Harvey) Port (Ladley/ Primus) and is unlikely to work. Once you appoint the senior coach he calls the shots, and anyone else works for him and not competes with him. M'house can retire to writing holier than thou articles in that right wing rag the Australian. Having his articles appear beside Pat Smith's moronic dross should help Mick's ego.

Hope we pull out all the stops and get a great replacement for Icke. I don't know if Austin is a good get or not so I'll let that go throught to the keeper. Malthouse is not that person though. As said before, he is a coach, not a Footy Manager. Can't see how getting him in with Ratts now would be a pleasant situation either. Just cause media speculation. If they thought he had real value, let him come in on a consultancy basis or something.

Hopefully Richardson doesn't leave us and we just have the one spot to fill. We can see the benefit this year of getting quality personnel in to the right positions with the improvement in both the team and the coach.

Ericpascoe on BigFooty has posted that Swann is trying to get Neil Balme or Geoff Walsh to replace Icke.

Balme's a good operator. He'd be great.

Agro might blow a gasket though.

Walsh would be nice too.

Snatched from under their noses through that thing called the draft??

I heard the fallout between Icke and Ratts occurred when we traded for McLean. (ie Ratts and O`Rielly for, Icke against)

Walsh?
With Swann, Richo and Brown, we'd just need to acquire Eddie and we'd become Collingwood.

We'd also need to swap Barb for Joffa.

I heard that Icke had a fight with Hotcox's mate on the board, and Ratts said it's either Icke or Hotcox. Swanny kept Hotcox

I heard this from my cousin who knows a guy who supplies a restaurant in Lygon street. Make of that what you will

Couldn't think of anyone worse at Carlton except Sheedy. I think I would prefer Himmler or Hess.
