Hope we take a look at the Lions' coaching staff.

They've got a great strike rate at how well they're developing their kids and the go home factor is next to nothing.

Dale Tapping getting great wraps. Murray Davis, and to a lesser extent Mitch Hahn should be invited down for a chat.

Fagan. He is a true 'manager' in every sense of the word. Surrounded himself with smart coaches to execute the game plan and has spent his time focusing on the mental side of his players. What makes them tick and how to utilise them to the teams advantages.

I'd start with Danny Daly as head of football.
He'll know who else to bring

They are all good managers when the team is travelling well - Ratten was in league of his own beginning of 2012 when we were flag favourites then injuries crippled the whole club.

You can tell a good manager when things are not going well.

It's great to sound out assistant coaches but the first port of call is to ensure the senior coach receives, absorbs and implements the appropriate feedback. Even this week Teague is still talking about playing attacking football. You can have the best defensive assistant in the AFL but if the coach doesn't utilise his thoughts, it's waste of time.
(I'm not saying Teague is resistant but it's up to the review committee to ensure that is the case)

We can't continue along merrily sacking coaches but the club needs to ensure there is an environment where firstly the coach can have success and is given every resource available to succeed (Something that wasn't afforded Brendan Bolton) and that we have a coaching group that shares ideas, utilises the skills of all coaching staff and that we are more adaptable strategically than we have been in the past (And of recent)
Once we decide if Teague is the coach, we then need to back him in 100%

Brilliant.

Brilliant to hear it from the horses mouth.
Teaching these kids a bit of mongel is the challenge.
Maybe the desire bit is what they're putting it in the wrong areas.

No chicks. No Booze. No outdoor urinating. No party stuff. No mummy's dinners.

We must be getting close to that time of year when Assistant Coaches who won't be retained next year, have to be given ''notice''. As required by the AFL agreement with Coaches Association.

Assistance or assistants?
FWIW, I don't think we'll have either of note.

Wonder how we’re going to go for the remainder of the season knowing 80% of our coaching staff won’t be there next year

How does the club go about recruiting assistant coaches without knowing who will be in the top job?

The only way this turns around is if there is a senior coach out there with his own secret network of assistants, just waiting for the trusted leader to blow into the conch shell and cry “COACHES, ASSEMBLE!!!”

It’s a f-ing disaster.

I’m tipping the coaches interested may be drawing up a short list for their presentation.

Fresh slate, what does you assistant lineup look like?

Its not a disaster, its a decision that needs to be made for the better.

Spot on about network of Assistants. Lyon has that. But his past isn't helpful for him to get another senior coaching job. I think we are becoming a values based club (as we all want) and with carlton Respects values....you know the rest.

There's a list of 4 potential coaches, we all know. I think the AFL Commission knows that too. The net is being cast wider, and a formal panel and formal interview process is highly likely this time. did I say highly likely? After all, there's the young blood coming through the ranks who can apply too: Yze, Caracella......

Back to this thread, the next coach will have a plan re Assistants or not. It may determine who next coach is. Power will stay and O'Keefe is probably a keeper in a development role.

Not sure if Eddie takes the Assistants role as earmarked next year.
If Pyke is selected as Coach...well those two didn't see eye to eye.

Hope Eddie is a development coach and works with the abundance of youth we have on our list.

Eddie's role is more a development role for 'indigenous' team members.

If Lyon had a network of coaching colleagues, he’d have a coaching job. He’s a radio commentator now.

His ceiling has been lowered to Senior Assistant, at best.
