Carlton football manger, Steven Icke will also be walking.

Ireconcilable differences with the coach, the reason.

Word is that the professional differences between the two turned personal.

Whoever we get as assistants, please, please let them have had some experience with successful clubs. We currently have no one who has coached or been an assistant at a club that has won a flag or even gone close.

Same with football manager if the Icke rumour is true. Get someone who has been a football manager at a club that has had success. I know this will upset some (like me!) but give Balme a godfather offer. He is one that knows what it takes.

I'd assume Icke was part of our list management team, so who is left with a few weeks before the most important part of the pre-season?

Good news and strong decision - couldn't be easy to offload Lappin. Will be interesting to see what happens with Teague once VFL season is over. My understanding is that Riley is considered a good assistant? Am I wrong on that?

Obviously, we need help in a few areas.
1) Development specialist (someone who is actually a specialist in the field, not someone who spontaneously becomes expert upon receiving the title!!!)
2) Defensive expert
3) Forward set up / strategist
4) Midfield tactician

We also need experienced assistant coaches and coaches involved in premiership teams.

- Whoever of Laidley or Richardson doesn't get the Essendon* job. (Multiple premiership player, much coaching experience)
- Peter Dean would be perfect fit for our defensive unit (Tough nut, architect of 1995's attacking defense, Premiership player, experienced assistant coach)
- Then, if req'd, we could bring in a younger type - eg. Kirk

Have you no dignity, no respect for the jumper, or for Geoff Southby?

Very good midfield coach...good bloke to have around the place, but after a change and has been shortlisted for the Eagles List Manager position which is taking an age to find a candidate.

With regard to Alan Richardson, he's still contracted as an assistant to Essendon* and is believed to be interested in staying at the club even if he doesn't land the head coach position.

Having seen what Leigh Tudor did at Geelong and then St Kilda, if he was available he'd be my pick.
